Thank you! That's a case for a Freewrite word processor, so that's why it's shaped weird; the Freewrite is shaped like a typewriter. Best Kickstarter I ever backed, but it's been gathering dust for a couple of years now. No more! Source: 11 months ago
The RM2 I don't think is designed to write a book unless you hand write everything. The Folio makes it a contender as a replacement to https://getfreewrite.com/ if you're looking for something that is free of distractions. Source: 11 months ago
There are a couple of distraction-free writing devices out there that might fit your requirements. Like freewrite and the alphasmart portable word processor. Source: 12 months ago
Freewrite looks like a spiritual successor to Alphasmart's Neo, but they're a bit pricey. Source: 12 months ago
If you only need the option to write stuff, then consider a Freewrite, though keep in mind they are pricey, however because of its e-ink display you get the best battery life of any of these devices (measured in weeks instead of hours). Source: about 1 year ago
Have you considered the Freewrite? It’s sorta designed for this - it’s dedicated for writing only. No paper output, though, just a screen. No other apps - just writing. Source: about 1 year ago
I should be fine to any software. Taking in mind this philosophy. Source: about 1 year ago
This is what you're looking for: https://getfreewrite.com/. Too expensive for me to justify, but I've wanted one for years. Source: about 1 year ago
Honestly, I'd love to see a thicker reMarkable with a bigger battery and support for a physical keyboard. As an alternative to Freewrite. Source: over 1 year ago
Looking at some videos yes they do support English typing. I also saw some English alternatives such as https://getfreewrite.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
I can't vouch for this machine but maybe this is the sort of thing you're looking for? https://getfreewrite.com/. Source: over 1 year ago

Had to Google this, do you mean this device here: https://getfreewrite.com. Source: almost 2 years ago
The Hemingwrite is just a more posh Freewrite, the normal one comes in at $649. Source: almost 2 years ago
I heavily used my eMate in college... Best note taking computer out there. Its was basically what this stupid thing wants to be, except it actually worked, was cheaper, and lasted legit forever on its rechargeable battery. Source: almost 2 years ago
The Freewrite is basically just a keyboard with a word processor attached to it for distraction free writing. What would be inside of such a device? Source: almost 2 years ago
The Freewrite (née Hemingway) would be almost perfect for me, but there's no way to edit except to add or delete from the end of the document, and frankly I don't revise but I do 'cycle' and need to go back every 400 words or so and examine. The Traveler would be the ideal thing if I... well, traveled a lot, but honestly, an Alphasmart NEO is $20-30 on eBay and far tougher. Too bad, because I love eInk displays... There are also modern products such as the Freewrite, I'm thinking about making one like this becuz mechanical keyboard but off the shelf looks nice. Source: about 2 years ago
Https://getfreewrite.com/ It's called the Freewrite now. I wanted one for a long time until I realised that my thought flow is much better with handwriting, which is why I've been experimenting with writing on tablets (the Nova Color 3 is not terrible for writing on, but I prefer to do my writing on LCD screens for some reason, so I use the Nova for reading on). Https://getfreewrite.com/ this is what authors use when writing books to not get distracted. Source: over 2 years ago
Depending on the level of lockdown, I'd actually look at Alphasmart devices from the early 2000s or successors to them. A custom build of the Freewrite devices (https://getfreewrite.com/) might work, except they look like they have a lot of empty space in them and are designed for online backup. Also, USB-C connections and those oh-so-entertaining when punctured spicy pillow LiPo batteries. Source: over 2 years ago
