I exported a bunch of 8-bit TIFFs from C1-21 today. The Finder reported them all around 92Mb (Sony A7r3 files). I tried to upload them to my site at format.com only to have half rejected for being "over 100Mb". Source: over 2 years ago

I usually connect by quick connect, but my website host is coming to an end. It is currently on format.com, a photography site. I started to make a site in php, and rather than configure mamp, I thought I'd put my images on synology. Ever since installing web station, maria, phpmyadmin, I can't connect via 192.xx.xx.xx, only quick station. For a while I could connect by localip/phpmyadmin/index.php. Source: over 2 years ago
I got an email from The Type Founders about a font that I'm using on my website, wich is made in format.com, using their available fonts. The email says I'm using a font on my website without license... I don't understand, I'm using one of the fonts that format lets you choose, so it would be more of a problem from format than from me right? I would like to get some help on this regard. Is this a normal situation... Source: almost 3 years ago
Okay, so assuming that you have a bootable version of Windows 98 ( not typical and OEM specific, so buying a CD burner and CDR blanks to install Windows 98 is not useful if you already have a retail copy - however, it is useful for downloading/writing the WinXP CD image) put the Win98 CD into the drive, power the machine down and boot from there. You should see the CDROM drive start to read and blink its LED<... Source: almost 3 years ago

Format is increasingly recognized as a robust contender in the realm of online portfolio and website building platforms, particularly catering to photographers and creatives. A central aspect of Format is its dual approach, which not only provides tools for website creation akin to CMS and website builders but also emphasizes education through the Format Magazine. This resource is abundant in articles that focus on using the platform and developing digital businesses individually, distinguishing Format in a saturated market.
One significant feature that extends Format's functionality beyond a conventional website builder is its Workflow service. This service primarily assists photographers with client management and gallery hosting, allowing for a seamless integration of business operations with website functionalities.
Compared to its competitors like Pixpa, Cargo, Squarespace, Pixieset, about.me, WordPress, and Behance, Format specializes in providing a user-friendly interface combined with photography-specific tools, a distinction highlighted by various users. For instance, the platform's capability to integrate directly with popular editing tools like Adobe Lightroom and Capture One (C1) is frequently praised by its users, who find the connectivity not only enhances their workflow but also streamlines their site management process.
Despite the positive feedback, users have encountered certain challenges when using the platform. Upload limitations, such as a 100MB cap on file size, have been noted as a concern, particularly for professionals handling large image files like TIFFs, common in photography circles. Additionally, metadata management and caching issues have surfaced, with users reporting difficulties in how images and descriptions are represented when shared across platforms like Facebook and Discord, indicating potential areas for Format to address in improving user experience.
Another user concern revolves around licensing and usage of fonts. Instances have arisen where users have received third-party notifications about unlicensed font usage despite utilizing the platform's available options, suggesting a need for enhanced clarity and communication from Format regarding licensing issues.
From a community standpoint, Formatโs integration of customer workflows with website management is particularly lauded, with users finding immense value in hosting private client galleries directly on the platform. This is contrasted with more generalized platforms like Squarespace, which, while highly regarded, do not offer the same level of niche-specific capabilities as Format.
Overall, Formatโs commitment to serving photographers and creatives with targeted solutions and an educational edge sets it apart. While it excels in specific niches, it remains critical for Format to address user feedback regarding technical limitations and licensing transparency to enhance its reputation and service in the competitive landscape of website builders.
