  If you enjoy writing fanfics with (detailed) descriptions of houses/ apartments ect. Or simply want an aid to picture the place you roughly made up in your mind, I can recommend floorplanner.com. • Finishing a basement previous owners covered up how much water it got (not quite done but close). Just got my certificate of occupancy, so wanted to share. The plans i created @ floorplanner.com. I did not do the egress windows nor the system to waterproof basement. Rest is me.

• What’s the first step in re-doing your basement?

  Then I would go to a site like https://floorplanner.com/, and put in the perimeter walls and immovables....save this as 'baseline'. From there, I'd save-as multiple times to clone that baseline and use each clone try to a few different combinations/variations on floor plan. Make sure you place some furniture in the plan.   Also, I've never used sweet home 3d, but have used floorplanner and often times the object you insert is not the right size, so research the standard size of a toilet, bathroom sink, sofa, etc and manually adjust them when you place. I even measured my existing furniture and replicated it as best as I could. Source: about 1 year ago
