1. What makes FlexTable unique?

   FlexTable puts SQL and NoSQL in one native editor, so you stop juggling a separate client for every database. It handles PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, SQLite, MongoDB, Redis... in a single window, including a real MongoDB shell and Redis commands with live Pub/Sub. It is native and small (around 14 MB, not Electron), so it starts instantly and stays light. And it is privacy-first: no telemetry, credentials stay on your machine, and the AI features use your own API key, calling the provider directly instead of routing through our servers.

2. Why should a person choose FlexTable over its competitors?

   If you juggle SQL and NoSQL, FlexTable puts them in one native editor (Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, SQLite, MongoDB, Redis) with a real MongoDB shell, instead of running TablePlus plus Compass plus a Redis tool. It is small (~14 MB, not Electron), does no telemetry, keeps credentials local, and uses your own AI key. Free during beta. For a single database, a dedicated client is fine, FlexTable shines when you work across both.

3. How would you describe the primary audience of FlexTable?

   Backend and full-stack developers who work with more than one database. If your day involves Postgres and Redis, or Postgres and MongoDB, you know the friction of opening a different client for each one, and that is who FlexTable is built for. It also fits DBAs and data analysts or engineers who want a single tool across SQL and NoSQL. The people who get the most out of it care about keeping their work fast and light, and keeping their data private.

4. What's the story behind FlexTable?

   I build backend and AI systems, and I work with a handful of databases every day: Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, and a few others. For years I was a TablePlus user and still like it, but it crashed on me now and then, and it did not handle the MongoDB shell queries I rely on. So I ended up with TablePlus open for SQL, Compass for Mongo, and a separate tool for Redis, all at once. That got old. I built FlexTable to put SQL and NoSQL in one native editor, with a real Mongo shell, small and private by default. It is still in beta, and free during beta.

5. Which are the primary technologies used for building FlexTable?

   FlexTable is a native desktop app built with Tauri and Rust for the core and Svelte for the interface. Rust handles the database drivers and query engine, Svelte handles the UI. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux from a single codebase, which is part of why the download stays around 14 MB instead of bundling a full browser the way Electron apps do. The AI features connect straight to whichever provider you bring a key for (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, or a local model through Ollama).

6. Who are some of the biggest customers of FlexTable?

   FlexTable is still in beta, so there are no big-name customers to list yet. It is used mostly by individual backend and full-stack developers, and small teams, who work across several databases. We would rather say that plainly than name logos we do not have.
