Also consider using an optimised list component. For example, consider switching to Flashlist (https://shopify.github.io/flash-list/). This is supported on both native and web, and it is better optimised at reusing the components in the list. Instead of creating e.g. 2000 list items each containing [for example] 4 children, it will create enough list item components to fill what's visible on the screen + a buffer...
