You should always be using the FastForward browser extension for these kinds of sites. It allows you to bypass many link shorteners. It's not always perfect as it is crowd-sourced but gets the job done for me unless I'm extremely early. Source: over 3 years ago
I see what you mean. It is very surprising that the Glowing Garnet romhack does not support legitimate eshop copies. My advice is: check hshop; if that doesn't work, I think your only option is to download a pre-patched rom from pokemoner (Make sure you have uBlock Origin and FastForward). Source: over 3 years ago

It is mentioned in the the post that there are also for-profit piracy sources that either require direct cash payments to access, or ad wall content behind captive url shorteners and fake download links to malicious advertisements.
