  • Gmail ads are getting more annoying
No, but there are some very good free and open source email clients for Android that are compatible with Gmail. 2 of my favorites are: - FairEmail: https://email.faircode.eu - K-9 Mail: https://k9mail.app. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago

There isn't technically a mobile Thunderbird, but K-9 Mail will eventually become Thunderbird on Android (I still plan to stick with FairEmail). Source: over 1 year ago
  • Any email client that supports Microsoft Exchange
I'd recommend FairEmail or K-9 Mail as an email app, but neither of them plan to implement Microsoft's proprietary protocols. You'd have to find out if IMAP is enabled on your school's server. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What are your top apps (bonus points for FOSS)
I didn't see FairEmail mentioned yet https://email.faircode.eu/ and also the TrailSense multitool https://github.com/kylecorry31/Trail-Sense is one of my favorites. Plus I prefer AdAway over AdGuard. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Open source Email providers that allow multiple free accounts on mobile
It won't work with Proton Mail accounts, but I like FairEmail for Android. You could consider switching to mailbox.org, which uses largely open source software. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Suggestion regarding the privacy email providers with better search and spam filtering capabilty
I use mailbox.org with the encrypted inbox, Mozilla Thunderbird on desktop, and FairEmail + OpenKeychain on Android. I think StartMail is the only other one of those four options that supports standard IMAP and SMTP. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What Foss apps you can't live without.

Give FairEmail a try. It is developed by a local Dutchman in my area. Best email client for mobile I ever used. I give him money yearly. https://email.faircode.eu/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Saturday APPreciation (May 21 2022) - Your weekly app recommendation/request thread!
Yeah, that will likely be the last update. The dev posted a note on his site: https://email.faircode.eu/. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Alternative to discontinued Netguard?
The former (FairMail). It's open-sourced but the developer just archived the repo and and said he wouldn't continue developing it. It can still be forked of course. The developer explains what happened here https://email.faircode.eu/. Source: almost 2 years ago

  • Simple Phone is on its way!
For a mail app, I would suggest FairEmail – a FOSS and privacy focused mail application with many great fearures. I use it everyday and must say that I’ve never used a better Android mail client than this one. The app is available on F-Droid, PlayStore (which obviously isn’t an option for a FOSS phone) & GitHub, for more info see https://email.faircode.eu. Source: almost 2 years ago
