ELinks is a text browser (unmaintained since 2012) and according to your description the setting appears to be working just as described in the fine manual, i. e. Tiddlywiki is a wiki in a single file (ie it updates the file itself) - if you can make that work with a text mode browser such as elinks (http://elinks.or.cz/) then that could be a direction worth exploring. Source: almost 3 years ago
