  • So I made a python script to add entries to your dynamic config.yml file dynamically
Let me know what you think and if you have suggestions to resolve that bug. I'm learning programming and have next to no python experience, I am taking CS50 through edx.org and the AI at chatgpt did most of the work. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Think I might change my name...
Im sorry man I want to be sympathetic but people like you cost an incalculable amount of people far more than you could even imagine and I truly believe that if hell exists you will be going there. I am serious though about seeking mental help you seem to still not have any impact on your mind or soul of how you affected other people just how your actions affected you that is some sociopath shit right there and if... • Iโ€™m homeschooled but my parents donโ€™t teach me a thing
Khanacademy.org is a fantastic resource for math, as well as many other courses. If you have access to the internet, try taking some of the courses there. They mirror what is taught in public schools with classes for all grade levels. There are other resources like edx.org that can provide free courses in topics like computer science and business. • Is there a way to learn AI during my engineering degree?
u can always self study, u arenโ€™t limited to learn only whatโ€™s in ur degree. Go on edx and check our some of their free courses. Ur life is a lot more than the degree ur pursuing. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What I Learned from Two Years of Teaching High School CS
The "best" professors/teachers I saw yet, where radiating an exhuberant joy while talking about their topic. It is fun to listen. They where a russian teaching in america who recorded a series about physics for TTC, The Teaching Company. He got voted best professor in america twice. The other one was David Malan of Harvards CS50 on [0]. Beware though, it sadly spoils you for later lectures by others. • i hate my alevels
    - edx.org has imperial college alevel maths courses which were pretty useful to me. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Beginner in Python!
Start with W3 schools for absolute scratch, the maybe watch cs50(intro to py) shorts or full lectures on edx.org and solve practice problem sets, it provides pretty good understanding. Watch how people put up 'easy' solutions on hackerrank and leetcode once you get a good hold on basics. I hope this is a good plan for one month. Source: over 2 years ago
  • โ€œThis is another example of folks engaging in the sorts of disruptive actions that our own research suggests are counterproductive from the standpoint of garnering public support for climate action." โ€“ Dr. Michael Mann, climate scientist
Go to Twitter, follow him, and ask him an honest question that he might simply SLIGHTLY disagree with. Instead of answering the genuine question, he'll just block you. Seems like an "expert" like him would be interested in helping people out that are "on his side". But he's not. He wants to sell books full of false hope, and he's too fragile, egotistical, and pathetic if he's not allowed to just lecture at people.... Source: over 2 years ago

  • questions CS50 2023
If you follow the course on edx.org, it will guide to open VSCode in your brother and open a special GitHub account for the course (it will look like https://github.com/code50/ ). Therefore all your exercises will be save in this GitHub account for CS50. And after the exercises have been validated they will be saved on a repo that should look like github.com/me50/. If you have problems opening VScode, you can... Source: over 2 years ago

  • Can I succeed in a science field even I use ACE curriculum
For quality science stuff that you can do for free now, I really enjoy Crash Course on Youtube as an entertaining introduction to a topic or as a review. It's mostly conceptual, which is great for inspiration but not rigorous enough for college prep. For getting a taste of what learning will be like at the college level, I love edx.org. Maybe check out this class to start. I love that edx is free, there's no... Source: over 2 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of edX

EdX, an established platform in the realm of online learning, is renowned for its high-caliber courses and esteemed partnerships with prestigious universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Stanford. This platform stands out in the competitive landscape of online education, not only as one of the most popular but also for offering a distinctively broad array of university-level courses across various disciplines.

Public Perception and Strengths

Public opinion typically highlights edX's strong reputation in providing quality education. As a nonprofit and open-source platform, edX is celebrated for its association with top-tier institutions and the breadth of subjects it covers. The platform hosts courses in diverse fields like computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, business, humanities, and more, facilitating access to affordable education worldwide. This acclaim extends to edX being one of the top competitors to platforms like Pluralsight, Coursera, and Udemy, primarily due to the quality and credibility of its offerings.

Furthermore, the edX Verified Track, which provides certification, is frequently mentioned in a positive light, as it offers learners a way to substantiate their skills development to prospective employers or academic institutions. The hybrid model of freely accessible courses with optional paid certifications enhances its inclusivity, catering to learners who prioritize knowledge as well as those seeking formal acknowledgment of their learning.

Inclusivity and Accessibility

EdX's commitment to inclusivity is evident through its beginner-friendly and varied curriculum. This approach is admired for making education more accessible to diverse learning groups, including those new to the subject matter. The option to audit courses for free provides significant value, especially when contrasted with the traditional higher education system where costs can be prohibitive.

Critiques and Areas for Improvement

While generally well-regarded, some criticisms do exist. The pricing structure, particularly for verified certificates and advanced programs such as master's degrees, can escalate to significant sums, reaching up to $25,000. This pricing may pose barriers for some, despite the availability of free course audits. Moreover, the platform could potentially enhance its user interface and course management system to improve user experience further.

Use Cases and Community Engagement

The platform is also praised within niche communities such as programming, with many learners referring to specific courses like Harvard's CS50 as transformative in their educational journeys. Community interactions reflect a strong preference towards using edX for foundational and advanced learning, especially in fields undergoing rapid technological evolution.

In summary, edX has carved a reputable niche in the online education landscape by offering high-quality, university-level courses through collaborative efforts with leading global institutions. Its dual model of accessible free courses and validated learning tracks continues to bolster its standing as a premier learning platform. While areas for structural improvement exist, edX remains an invaluable resource for learners worldwide, underscoring the democratization of education through technology.
