As I said on my first comment, I don't recall such an offering beyond block style programming (e.g. EduBlocks). The internet is a big place, though. Good luck on your search. Source: about 3 years ago

Numworks support the shorter function names. I noticed that it is difficult to use `turtle` interactively from the Python shell since the screen is cleared between each command that is entered. A way to circumvent this is to use semicolon ";" betweens the commands, but it would be better if the OS could be modified so that the graphics screen is buffered. It's possible to mix turtle and kandinsky in the same... Source: almost 5 years ago

EduBlocks is garnering attention as an accessible and effective tool for introducing young learners to the world of programming, particularly in the context of transitioning from block-based to text-based coding. Widely recognized within educational technology circles, EduBlocks positions itself as a bridge between simple visual-based programming interfaces and the more complex structure of text-based coding, with a particular emphasis on Python.
Educational Focus: EduBlocks is highlighted as a solid educational platform that supports both teachers and students through its built-in classroom tools. This feature facilitates class management and assignment handling, greatly simplifying the process for educators who may not be as tech-savvy. The inclusion of a comprehensive Python 3 curriculum is a significant advantage, allowing teachers to seamlessly integrate computational thinking and programming skills into their lessons.
Ease of Transition: For beginners, especially those entirely new to coding, EduBlocks serves as a recommended starting point. It enables users to incrementally shift from intuitive block-style programming to more sophisticated text-based coding languages like Python. This aspect is frequently commended by those progressing in their coding journey, as it fosters a smoother and less intimidating transition.
Community Support and Resources: The usage of EduBlocks in real-world examples, such as coding projects available on the platform, indicates its practical application in enhancing learning experiences. Community discussions often point to EduBlocks as an effective means for solving common beginner coding challenges in Python, providing users a supportive learning environment.
Despite its strengths, EduBlocks does face competition from well-established platforms such as Scratch, Snap, Blockly, Code.org, and game engine tools like Unity and Godot Engine, which offer varied functionalities across programming and game development niches. EduBlocksโ niche is in its educational value, particularly with a focus on Python, which is increasingly popular in academic settings.
Furthermore, community feedback suggests that while EduBlocks is beneficial for beginners, more advanced users might find its offerings limited once they become proficient in text-based programming. The focus on Python, while comprehensive, could also be limiting for users who want to explore other languages.
Overall, EduBlocks is positively regarded as a conducive entry point into programming, especially for young learners who benefit from visual learning methods. Its targeted educational features, specifically designed for classroom use, and facilitation of the transition from block-based to text-based coding, bolster its reputation as a valuable educational resource. As it evolves, EduBlocks will need to continue addressing the balance between maintaining beginner-friendly features and expanding capabilities to retain users as they advance in their coding skills.
