Hello. This is probably a question that has been answered before, but after searching all night, I could not find an answer to my exact situation. *I am doing all this to learn*. I have a small web site hosted on a LAMP server at home. I can access it from computers inside the network, now I wanted to see if I could get it online for the world, I was going to do it with dynu.com, but noticed that my ISP provided... I'm using a Dynamic DNS service (dynu.com) in conjunction with WireGuard for remote access to my setup, running alongside a dnsmasq configuration to bring my LAN devices to the same IP addresses when away from my network. These services run on a DietPi VM hosted on my 920+. Most of the time the setup just works; on one occasion, however, the VM did not start automatically. I was glad I have QC set up: I could... 1) Point the domain name to your server's static IP, either with the hosting company or a third-party host like Cloudflare or Dynu. Note: if using a third-party host, you'll need to set the domain name host's nameservers to those of your third-party host). Source: almost 2 years ago
I am not good at this stuff at all, basically just trying to get a wordpress site I slapped together up and running properly. I got the domain through dynu.com and hosting through bluehost. Completely dumbfounded I made it this far tbh, Site is up and running - pm for the url as I am not sure I can put it here . I had 4 domains on GAFYD for >10 years. I nuked one ancient inactive business domain, moved one (low volume) domain to iCloud+, moved one other to mail hosting on dynu.com (that was already the ddns provider), and have another I hope to keep on Google Workspace. I’ve cut down the users to 6, moved to the free plan for now and hope they come up with something reasonable before August. Source: over 2 years ago
Or you can use a free DNS service like Dynu, and can set it up like this (works for Raspberry Pi but also for general Linux devices). Source: over 2 years ago

FYI: I recommend dynu.com. I did a bunch of research and tried various services. dynu.com works out great for me. They are generally not built into most router's firmware, but it's worth the effort to build the needed infrastructure. No-IP and all the others are fine, but I highly recommend dynu.com. I am thinking about installing Redmine on windows home pc and set it up as a Project management system instead of a ticketing system. I think I can make the task bit easier by using Bitnami https://bitnami.com/stack/redmine then I can use dynu.com for dynamic DNS solution so I can access Redmine from anywhere. See I need a free and reliable home solution for Project Management. The part I am not sure is once... Source: almost 3 years ago
I'm currently setting up my OrangePi with Armbian Focal for a vpn server (using piVpn). I'm having issues using ddclient for my dynamic dns, I tried with freedns.afraid.org and dynu.com to no luck. I keep getting this error: cannot connect to freedns.afraid.org:443 socket: Name or service not known IO::Socket::IP configuration failed. Source: almost 3 years ago
How does the DDNS work with Synology? I have it set up and updating to dynu.com just fine but how does it detect that it needs to update the IP address on dynu.com? Does it do this on some frequency? If so, I didn't see any settings for that. Source: almost 3 years ago
I have a domain that is registered with dynu.com and has DDNS services for a number of subdomains. My router forwards all requests to Nginx Proxy Manager, which directs traffic to the right port on the right machine. Everything was working fine until last night. Source: almost 3 years ago
