Great app - resolves the limitations of other doc/merge apps

We wanted an app that would allow for custom branding and layout, the font of our choice, and merge fields across our main SF objects. Previously we used DocGen, which led to a morass of configuration to put fields in exactly the place they needed to be for the tables, as well as a bunch of SOQL queries to manage conditional logic. The VF doc generator can't accommodate the fonts we use in our branding. And so DocRaptor has been the perfect solution.

Our developer built the contracts, and we went live within weeks with complete branding, flexibility in the data merges (we were able to remove a ton of bad config) and it's easy to manage.

    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Flexible|Great customer support|Super fast

The best HTML to PDF solution

I have been using DocRaptor for 6 years, both for my professionnal and personnal projects. After trying several free and/or open source HTML to PDF solutions, I was happy to find this service. It's the most efficient solution, which generates the most accurate PDF documents.

Since it's a SaaS service, there is nothing to install, no library dependencies nor experimental software that you're not sure it will be supported in the future.

There is a lot of options and CSS rules to dig in if you want to get PDF files that exactly matches what you want. But the other solutions I tried didn't have these options, and the result was not good enough.

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: pdfmatrix.com, SelectPdf, pdflayer, Api2Pdf, PDFCrowd
๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Simple api|No dependencies|Best pdf result|A lot of options to help you create the pdf you need|Good customer support
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    A lot of css rules to learn if you want to get the perfect pdf of your dreams... but at least these rules exist!

  • Launch HN: Onedoc (YC W24) โ€“ A better way to create PDFs
It sounds like this is as advanced as DocRaptor[1]. They have what I consider to be the best PDF generation API, giving complete control over the documents you need to create. The pricing is similar. If you'd rather do it for free weasyprint[2] is the best open source alternative. Another more affordable option you might want to consider is Urlbox[3]. • How do you generate PDF reports from HTML?
We built the DocRaptor API to let developers have affordable access to the commercial Prince PDF engine. We have Node code examples throughout the documentation. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What is the best online HTML to PDF converter?
I'd argue our service, DocRaptor, is the best because it's the only one powered by the Prince PDF engine. Unlike open-source, browser-based conversion engines, Prince was custom-built just for converting HTML into PDFs and offers a lot of unique functionality for making more complex PDFs. • Is it possible to render a RazorPage (inc. CSS) to a PDF file and download via WebAPI?

Summary of the public mentions of DocRaptor

DocRaptor is a cloud-based service designed to convert HTML and CSS into high-quality PDF documents. Widely recognized for its robust and scalable HTML-to-PDF API, it stands out in a crowded market of PDF converters and document automation tools. DocRaptor is particularly notable for its use of the Prince PDF engine, a distinguished feature that sets it apart from many competitors.

Public opinions on DocRaptor reflect its status as a prolific tool in the document automation space. A frequently lauded aspect is its scalability and reliability, which are fundamental for businesses requiring mass PDF document generation. It boasts an impressive uptime of 99.999%, ensuring consistent service availability. A significant advantage of DocRaptor is its flexibility regarding file input and output sizes, making it suitable for various business needs, from small-scale to vast enterprise-level operations.

In comparisons with competitors, DocRaptor frequently emerges favorably, particularly among those in the technology community who value its advanced capabilities. Derived from user comments, DocRaptor's integration with the Prince PDF engine is highlighted as a key strength. Prince was custom-built for HTML-to-PDF conversion, providing features for creating intricate PDF layouts not typically supported by browser-based engines or open-source alternatives. This capability is a primary selling point, especially for projects where conversion quality and complexity are critical.

Another strength of DocRaptor includes comprehensive documentation and support for multiple programming languages. The presence of example code, such as for Node.js and C#, is appreciated by developers aiming to implement the API efficiently. This ease of use, combined with the service's operational reliability, enhances its reputation within the tech community.

However, discussions about DocRaptor's competitors reflect a dynamic landscape of PDF conversion options. The introduction of competing services like Onedoc, which purportedly offers similar advanced features, suggests an evolving marketplace where pricing and additional functionalities become critical distinguishing factors. While DocRaptor's pricing is competitive, services like Urlbox offer more affordable options, albeit potentially lacking in the advanced features that DocRaptor provides.

Open-source alternatives, such as WeasyPrint, are often recommended for budget-conscious users who do not require the full extent of DocRaptor's capabilities. Nevertheless, the consensus among technical users is that while alternatives are available, DocRaptor's combination of the Prince PDF engine and a commitment to quality and performance maintains its position as a leading choice for HTML-to-PDF conversion.

In summary, DocRaptor is celebrated for its reliability, scalability, and unique technological advantages provided by the Prince PDF engine. While facing competition from both similar proprietary solutions and open-source projects, it remains a favored tool for developers and businesses that prioritize quality and comprehensive PDF document handling capabilities.
