  • Using Android Without a Google Account
I'm surprised not so many people know about DivestOS[0]. It's the best option IMO if you don't have a google pixel for grapheneOS. Has similar support to lineageOS which it is based on. Same developer made Mulch and Mull web browsers. Monthly security updates. Obviously none of the hardware security features grapheneOS offers, but many other features, binary deblobbing etc. [0]: https://divestos.org. - Source: Hacker News / 21 days ago
  • Apple Introduces M4 Chip
I, an engineer, am not doing this myself, too. There is a middle ground though: just use a privacy-oriented Android build, like DivestOS. [1] There are a couple caveats: 1. It is still a bit tricky for a non-technical person to install. Should not be a problem if they know somebody who can help, though. There's been some progress making the process more user friendly recently (e.g. WebUSB-based GrapheneOS... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • LineageOS is currently installed on 1.5M Android devices
DivestOS is a slightly modified Lineage version that officially supports relocking on some phones (in contrast with Lineage, which I think can be relocked but explicitly tells users not to do that). It also has sandboxed implementations of both official Google services — ported from Graphene, I think – and microG. I'm using it with microG, bootloader relocked, and it seems to pass SafetyNet this way – at... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago

  • LG V20 as a "music friendly" daily driver in 2023 with Lineage OS (/e/ OS)?
A step up in terms of privacy would be DivestOS but the only time that I tried to install it didn't boot and I didn't have time to troubleshoot why, but that's a really nice project that I would look again in the future. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Pixel 7 vs Pixel 4XL
If CalyxOS stops supporting a Pixel, the next best OS is DivestOS. It provides additional hardening that CalyxOS doesn't but it doesn't support microG. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Are end-of-life (EOL) devices completely unusable?
I recently discovered that this forum is very specific on the flavor of LineageOS to recommend: https://divestos.org/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • 5 Best Custom ROMs for Privacy - Degoogle Your Phone NOW !
I would add DivestOS which is a fork of Lineage OS that does a better job of keeping up with security patches, especially for older devices. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Security and up-to-date Lineage OS compared to outdated stock ROM
You can check if your device is compatible with DivestOS. Many, but not all, devices can have their bootloader relocked. If your device can't be relocked, but is supported, it is better in most cases than LineageOS, as it is a more secure and private fork of LineageOS itself. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Personal Identifiers tracking by Google
This is documented on their website and on my website. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Any alternative to GrapheneOS?
If you can't afford a Pixel, check out DivestOS, it's a reasonably private/secure Android OS for more affordable mobile phones such as Xiaomi, Oneplus, Moto, etc. You can thoroughly see the supported devices in their website, and buy a new/old(second-hand) one in order to flash it. • Best ROMs for Google Pixel 3A?
I'd recommend DivestOS by u/Subzer0Carnage for your Pixel 3a EOL device. DivestOS has an incredible wealth of information on the site too. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • should i stop using my cellphone?
Your best bet is to find a device compatible with DivestOS https://divestos.org/ since Google don't sell Pixel devices here. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • LineageOS w/ MicroG vs GrapheneOS w/ MicroG
A simple step up, would be (DivestOS)[https://divestos.org], which is a heavily modified fork of lineage, that enhances security by reducing the attack surface by deblobbing and sometimes even supporting AVB (relocking the bootloader + bl security features). Source: almost 2 years ago

  • Pixel is the the phone that most custom roms can be installed?
If you don't wish to give google money directly for it, you can always buy a Pixel used elsewhere. Likely can even grab a 6 or 6 Pro used at this point. Can also consider alternative devices, like Fairphone or even OnePlus. GrapheneOS doesn't support them, but CalyxOS does, as does LineageOS and DivestOS. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Making League of Legends: Wild Rift work properly
My phone has hotdogb DivestOS installed. This app requires GSF, I tried installing it from Aurora store, with the insecure anonymous session setting on both on log-in page and being logged in but it doesn't work. Source: almost 2 years ago
