Choose it if you want a debt payoff plan without handing over your bank credentials or creating an account. Many alternatives are budgeting platforms with a debt feature attached, or online calculators that forget your data when you close the tab. Debt Payoff Planner is a dedicated debt tracker: one place to enter debts, compare strategies, see the payoff order and debt-free date, and log what you actually paid, month after month, with reminders so nothing goes overdue. The free version covers up to 3 debts with payment logging, reminders and the debt-free estimate. Premium adds unlimited debts, the full strategy comparison with exact payoff order, advanced statistics and PDF reports.
Debt Payoff Planner does not connect to your bank and does not require an account. You enter your loans, credit cards and other debts manually, and everything stays on your iPhone. It works offline. Most debt payoff apps ask for a bank login or a sign-up first. The app compares the snowball and avalanche methods with your real numbers, shows the estimated debt-free date and interest for each, and then lets you record every payment with a principal vs interest breakdown, reminders before due dates, milestones and monthly PDF reports. It also tracks money other people owe you. Available in 13 languages, with free web calculators at debtpayoff.app that use the same calculation as the app.
People paying off one or several debts, such as credit cards, car loans, student loans, personal loans or a mortgage, who want a clear plan: which debt gets the extra money first, when each one is paid off, and how much interest the plan saves. It suits people who prefer to enter numbers themselves and keep financial data on their own phone rather than link a bank. It also works for tracking money friends or family owe you. It is not a full budgeting app and does not track spending categories.
Debt Payoff Planner is built by Linas Nutautas, a solo iOS developer, and was released on the App Store in June 2025. The idea was a debt payoff app that stays private: no account, no bank connection, data on the device. In 2026 the calculations were reworked and verified (version 1.1.4), the app was localized into 13 languages, and free web calculators for debt payoff, loans and credit cards were published at debtpayoff.app using the same math as the app.
Native iOS app written in Swift and SwiftUI. All data is stored on the device, there is no Debt Payoff Planner server and no bank integration. PDF reports are generated on the phone. The website debtpayoff.app is a static site with the same payoff calculations implemented for the browser.
