  • A little Kaseya silliness...
Yes, I understand what is happening. The "issue" is that the email appears to have been written more for IT Glue people -- and then someone edited the top portion a bit to be more Datto-specific without really cleaning up the rest of the email (or the sender/from itself). As I said, if you see my Edit, I actually got a new email a few hours later -- that is actually from a datto.com email address and more... Source: over 3 years ago
  • A little Kaseya silliness...
Indeed. And see my edit -- I actually just got an updated email with the same subject that came from datto.com and was really about Datto stuff instead of IT Glue stuff! :). Source: over 3 years ago
  • Cancelling my Datto Services After Kaseya took over: My Story
As I'm getting my stuff ready to present to my attorney, I get an email from [postmaster@kaseya.onmicrosoft.com](mailto:postmaster@kaseya.onmicrosoft.com) that my email bounced due to security or policy settings at datto.com. What the....? For real? C'mon man. I print that email as well as the others, and head off to see my attorney. He looks everything over, looks at me and says "Are all vendors in your industry... • Datto sales guy spammed my phone.
I took advantage of M365's message rules, and set up a rule that all emails from @ datto.com gets forwarded to their support email address. Summary of the public mentions of Datto

Based on a synthesis of recent discussions and published content, public opinion about Datto, a prominent player in the IT management and Managed Service Provider (MSP) support solutions space, reveals a multifaceted perception shaped by user experiences and industry dynamics.

Strengths and Offerings

Datto is recognized for its comprehensive suite of IT management solutions, notably its flagship product, Datto SIRIS, which serves as an all-in-one business continuity and disaster recovery solution. Designed to assist MSPs, SIRIS, and other Datto offerings emphasize disaster recovery, data loss prevention, and business continuity, reflecting a strong focus on minimizing downtime and supporting normal operations post-disruption. Moreover, Datto's Autotask, a Professional Services Automation (PSA) tool, is widely regarded as a top contender in its category, competing closely with ConnectWise. The company's strategic acquisitions in remote monitoring and management (RMM) and file synchronization underscore its commitment to bolstering its cloud software solutions for IT service providers worldwide.

Industry Position and Competitors

While Datto holds a significant market position, it contends with several competitive forces in the MSP domain, including Atera, NinjaOne, ManageEngine Desktop Central, Kaseya VSA, and ConnectWise Automate. Its reputation as one of the "big three" RMM solutions, alongside ConnectWise and Kaseya, solidifies its standing in providing essential monitoring, management, and patch deployment services critical for MSPs.

Challenges and Criticisms

Recent discourse sheds light on some challenges Datto faces, especially in the realm of customer relations and communication, as exemplified by user experiences following Kaseya's acquisition of Datto. Concerns about inconsistent or confusing communications during this transition period, as evidenced by instances of misdirected emails, have been a point of frustration. IT professionals have expressed sentiments that communication mishaps and contractual ambiguities may inadvertently hinder their operational decisions, such as service cancellations or modifications, which Datto had previously handled with notable flexibility.

Customer Engagement

Furthermore, some customers have found the marketing strategies of Datto representatives, such as unsolicited communications, to be intrusive, leading to dissatisfaction among certain users. While Dattoโ€™s comprehensive service offerings are generally well-received, maintaining effective and customer-friendly communication remains critical as it navigates its relationship with its clientele amidst significant corporate changes.

Conclusion

In essence, while Datto is lauded for its robust suite of IT solutions and its strategic positioning within the MSP support landscape, recent perceptions have also drawn attention to areas needing improvement, particularly in customer communication and engagement. As Datto continues to evolve post-acquisition, addressing these areas proactively may bolster its reputation and client satisfaction moving forward.
