Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Crops.is.
  1. What makes Crops.is unique?

Crops is the only Digital Asset Management platform with built-in AI Review that automatically catches errors before they ship. While other DAMs just store files, Crops actively scans every asset for typos, placeholder text, accessibility issues, and quality problems.

Combined with AI auto-tagging, visual search, and streamlined approval workflows, creative teams get back big chunks of their time previously lost to hunting for files, chasing feedback, and manual quality checks.

  2. Why should a person choose Crops.is over its competitors?

Traditional DAMs like Brandfolder are built for storage and brand portals. File storage tools like Dropbox and Google Drive weren't designed for creative workflows. Crops sits in between, purpose-built for creative and marketing teams.

Choose Crops if you want AI that actively works for you, not just stores your files. Our AI Review catches errors before stakeholders see them. Auto-tagging organizes assets automatically. Visual annotations keep feedback on the asset, not scattered across email threads.

Setup takes minutes, not months. The interface is intuitive, not overwhelming. And you get the power of intelligent automation without enterprise complexity or pricing.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of Crops.is?

Creative and marketing teams, with at least 5-25 people. These teams produce a lot of assets per month and struggle with the chaos of scattered files, manual quality checks, and feedback lost across email and Slack.

Our primary buyers are Marketing Operations Managers and Creative Directors who are tired of spending huge amounts of their time on administrative tasks instead of strategic creative work.

  4. What's the story behind Crops.is?

Crops is built by a team with over 5 years of experience in the DAM business. Our previous product, Baseline, has been making brand asset management easier for small businesses. Now we're taking on the big guys.

Baseline is a very opinionated, do-it-for-you brand guide and asset creation tool. While building it, our founder Gilli asked: what if we built the opposite? A tool that grows the way you want it to. One that checks your assets for problems rather than trying to create them for you.

In a world where AI is pumping out more content than ever, there needs to be more checks to make sure nothing slips past. There also needs to be a place to keep all that content and leverage it in new ways.

That's where Crops came from. A digital asset management system that checks the quality of your content and integrates with the tools you use. Looking ahead, we're building Crops to be the DAM that integrates with anything. Today, most DAMs lock API access behind enterprise pricing, keeping powerful integrations out of reach. We envision a future where your DAM is the source of assets that connects easily with other tools, including AI.

  5. Which are the primary technologies used for building Crops.is?

Crops is built on Django for the backend, with a microservices architecture that allows us to scale and iterate quickly. We use S3 for secure, reliable asset storage and Vue.js on the frontend for a fast, responsive user experience.
