Features & Specs

  1. Quick outage checks

I could not open couldbedown.com, so this assumes it is a 'is it down for everyone or just me' status checker. Tools like that let you enter a URL and see fast whether a site is unreachable for everyone or only for you, which saves troubleshooting time.

  2. No technical skill required

Status checkers of this kind usually have a simple interface with a single input field and a clear up or down result. That makes them accessible to non-technical users.

  3. Likely free to use

Basic one-off availability checks are typically free and need no account. Please confirm this on the site, since I could not verify its pricing.

  4. Helps separate local from global problems

An outside check can show whether an issue comes from your own network, DNS or device, or from the website's servers. That helps you decide whether to wait or fix something on your side.

  5. Useful for quick verification by teams

Support staff, developers and site owners can use a third-party checker as a fast second opinion on availability without setting up monitoring infrastructure.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CouldBeDown.
  1. Which are the primary technologies used for building CouldBeDown?

Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, Vercel, Resend for email, and calendar APIs.

  2. What's the story behind CouldBeDown?

Plans in my group chats kept dying the same way. Someone would suggest getting together, a few people would reply with days they couldn't do, the thread would move on, and nobody pinned down a time. Availability polls helped find the overlap, but someone still had to chase everyone to confirm. I built CouldBeDown, as an independent developer, to finish that job: collect free time, propose a time, get RSVPs and lock it in.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of CouldBeDown?

Friend groups and casual organizers: people planning dinners, game nights, D&D sessions, band practice, rec sports, study groups and club meetings. It suits the person in the group chat who always ends up asking "so when works for everyone?"

  4. Why should a person choose CouldBeDown over its competitors?

Choose it if you want a plan that actually happens, not just a poll result. When2meet, LettuceMeet and Crab Fit are good at showing the overlap, but the plan still gets finalized in the group chat. Doodle and Calendly have moved toward business booking and paid plans. CouldBeDown is free and needs no sign-up for organizers or guests. It adds proposals, RSVPs with one-click email buttons, Google Calendar busy times and auto-add, and saved friend groups for crowds you plan with again and again.

  5. What makes CouldBeDown unique?

Most group schedulers stop once they've found when everyone is free. CouldBeDown carries on to a confirmed plan. Everyone marks their free time on a shared grid, the organizer proposes one or more times from the overlap, people answer going or not going, and the confirmed plan is added to their calendar. Nobody needs an account to take part.
