You need copyparty, nothing else https://github.com/9001/copyparty. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Modifying FileZilla to Workaround Bambu 3D Printer's FTP Issue
IMHO, there's a better answer to any thing you like about FTP. For simple stuff, TFTP seems... fine? I've never looked under the hood, but I'm pretty sure it fixes the really bizarre choices in FTP. For everything else, either SFTP or HTTP seems to be the rule. For moving files around between machines, I've become quite fond of https://github.com/9001/copyparty over http. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • US Court of Appeals: TOS can be updated by email, continued use implies consent [pdf]
Jellyfin is nice but I could never understand how to setup when all I wanted was to watch videos from server for example. So I used copyparty[0] and used VLC and set a username and password. I recommend copyparty if you just want something quick and easy actually. Just try it out on cheap VPS and just run it and forget it. https://github.com/9001/copyparty. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

  • European Alternatives
The site has a lot of open source projects though, in fact I found about copyparty[0] from it because it was listed as an alternative to file hosting services (though it was removed since then, probably because it isn't a service :-P but still there are various FLOSS projects). • Linux is good now; to feel like you actually own your PC, put Linux on it
KDE has phone and laptop integrated well enough for me. It's worth giving it a try but the more devices you want integrated the more of a risk it is in case it doesn't quite work right. But I've got enough other devices in the house which I can't put KDE on (work laptop, Windows machine I need for some specific software) that I can recommend https://github.com/9001/copyparty over thumb drives. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Copyparty, the FOSS file server [video]
I love the OPDS feature to serve ebooks to my families ereader devices. Many of the other OPDS servers are rather complex by comparison and as a bonus I can use it from a web browser for my devices that donโ€™t speak OPDS. https://github.com/9001/copyparty?tab=readme-ov-file#opds-feeds. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Why Nextcloud feels slow to use
Recently people built a super-lightweigt alternative, named copyparty[0]. To me that looks like it does everything people tend to need without all the bloat. [0]: https://github.com/9001/copyparty. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Why Nextcloud feels slow to use
I've played around with many self-hosted file manager apps. My first one was Ajaxplorer which then became Pydio. I really liked Pydio but didn't stick with it because it was too slow. I briefly played with Nextcloud but didn't stick with it. Eventually I ran into FileRun and loved it, even though it wasn't completely open source. FileRun is fast, worked on both desktop and mobile via browser nicely, and I never... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago

  • Hexatetrahedral Rails
It depends. Rails is great for rapid application development. You probably don't want to decouple at that early stage. But when your app struggles with slow responses and job management becomes increasingly difficult, you begin to see the flip side of the trade-off between ease of development and performance. Recently there is this project that caught my attention. The project claim to support multi different protocol, on various web browser(even IE6), and extremely easy to setup(single python file). I have not given it a try, just want to share. https://github.com/9001/copyparty. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
