Possible disadvantages of ZEIT

  • Pricing
The pricing model may become expensive as the application scales, particularly if the free tier limits are exceeded frequently.
  • Limited Customization
While ease of use is a pro, it often comes at the expense of lower-level customization options that other platforms might offer.
  • Vendor Lock-In
As with many PaaS solutions, there's a risk of becoming reliant on the platform's ecosystem, which might pose challenges if you decide to migrate in the future.
  • Feature Limitations
Some advanced features available on more traditional hosting providers might be restricted or absent, limiting the scope of specific types of projects.
  • Debugging Complexity
Debugging serverless functions can be more complex compared to traditional server environments, potentially increasing development time for unfamiliar users.

Possible disadvantages of m-cli

  • Limited to macOS
The tool is specifically designed for macOS systems, which limits its utility to users who do not operate within the Apple ecosystem.
  • Potential Security Risks
Executing system-level commands from a centralized utility could pose security risks if not properly managed, especially if the tool is granted excessive permissions or used in untrusted environments.
  • Dependency on System Changes
Updates and changes to macOS may lead to compatibility issues or require ongoing maintenance of the tool to ensure all functions continue to operate as intended.
  • Learning Curve
While m-cli simplifies many commands, users still need to learn its specific syntax and functions, which may be a barrier for individuals unfamiliar with command-line utilities.

  • macOS Terminal, new to the terminal and need advice from people that know it. Many thanks fellow macOS users.
The reason developers use terminal/shell is because of its command line interface i.e, each task is a line/command. Each command maybe anything only limited by the tools you have installed on system. These lines can be placed together in a script and run together and developers often use it like this for automation. It is like programming the system. You can install a lot of tools using HomeBrew and lot of tools... Source: over 5 years ago
