Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Weekly Github and JustDocz.

What makes your product unique?

JustDocz's answer:

JustDocz combines local document search, OCR, multilingual search, and optional local AI in a privacy-first Windows desktop application. Instead of relying only on filenames, JustDocz indexes the contents of PDFs, Office documents, scanned PDFs, images, spreadsheets, presentations, and other local files so users can search by what they remember from inside a document. A key difference is its local-first design. Documents do not need to be uploaded to a cloud search service simply to become searchable. This makes JustDocz especially useful for professionals working with confidential or sensitive information. It is also designed for real-world document archives containing a mix of file formats, scans, older documents, multilingual content, spelling variations, and files accumulated over many years.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

JustDocz's answer:

JustDocz is a strong choice for users who want to search large local document collections without moving their files into a cloud platform. It focuses on a practical problem: users often remember something written inside a document, but do not remember the filename or folder. JustDocz helps solve that by searching document content rather than relying only on filenames. Compared with basic file-search tools, JustDocz adds full-text document indexing, OCR for scanned files and images, multilingual search, typo-tolerant and phonetic search, and optional local AI capabilities. Compared with cloud-first document search services, JustDocz is designed around local processing, which can be important for law firms, researchers, media organizations, accountants, consultants, and businesses handling confidential files. No account or signup is required to get started.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

JustDocz's answer:

JustDocz is designed for professionals, businesses, and organizations that work with large collections of documents and need to find information inside them quickly. Typical users include: - Lawyers, advocates, law firms, and legal departments - Researchers and academic users - Media organizations, publishers, and journalists - Accountants, finance professionals, and auditors - Consultants and professional services firms - Small and medium businesses - Educational institutions and libraries - Knowledge workers with large document archives - Privacy-conscious users who prefer local document processing It is particularly useful for people working with PDFs, Office documents, scanned records, images, reports, contracts, invoices, spreadsheets, and multilingual archives.

What's the story behind your product?

JustDocz's answer:

JustDocz was inspired by a real problem: finding information across years of accumulated professional documents. The idea came from seeing how difficult it had become to locate information across legal files collected over many years. Often, someone might remember a client name, court, type of case, location, or phrase from inside a document, but not the filename or folder where it was stored. The problem became even more difficult as documents increasingly arrived as scanned PDFs, images, email attachments, Office files, and other formats. Privacy was equally important. Legal and other professional documents can contain confidential information, so uploading entire document collections to external cloud services is not always appropriate. JustDocz was built to make these existing local document collections searchable while keeping document processing on the user's own computer.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

JustDocz's answer:

JustDocz is built as a local desktop application using a modern desktop and document-processing stack. Primary technologies include: - Tauri for the desktop application - TypeScript and JavaScript - SQLite for local data storage and indexing - Full-text and local search technologies - OCR technologies including Tesseract - Local document parsing and extraction tools - PDF and Office document processing libraries - Optional local AI integration through Ollama and supported local language models The architecture is designed around local processing so document indexing, OCR, search, and optional AI workflows can run on the user's computer

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

JustDocz's answer:

JustDocz is newly launched, and we are currently onboarding early users and organizations.
