Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Webots and ThunDroid.

What makes your product unique?

ThunDroid's answer:

ThunDroid is a mobile wellness companion built around CBT, DBT, and ACT together most apps pick one framework or wrap a general chatbot. You can talk with live voice when typing is too much, write with 15 guided journal templates, and downshift with 13 breathing protocols including cyclic sighing (a Stanford study in Cell Reports Medicine found it reduced anxiety faster than mindfulness meditation). Journals and conversation history stored on the device are encrypted with AES-256. Five messages need no signup; then a 3-day trial. It is 16+, not a therapist, and not a crisis service.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ThunDroid's answer:

Choose ThunDroid if you want a living app that talks (live voice + text), writes (15 templates), and breathes (13 protocols) in one place not only a meditation library (Calm/Headspace), not roleplay companionship (Replika), and not a general model used as a therapist (ChatGPT). Youper shuts down 30 September 2026; Woebot’s consumer app already closed. ThunDroid is still shipping, keeps the journal encrypted on your phone, and lets you try 5 messages with no account. It does not diagnose or replace professional care; it is for the hours a session is not available.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ThunDroid's answer:

Adults 16+ who need a private, on-demand companion when therapy or a friend is not available: busy professionals managing stress between meetings, students under exam or placement pressure, people who overthink at night, anyone building a journaling or breathing habit, and users migrating from Youper, Woebot, Wysa, or ChatGPT-as-therapy. They want clinical-depth conversation (CBT/DBT/ACT) without pretending the app is a licensed clinician, and they care that their writing stays on the device.

What's the story behind your product?

ThunDroid's answer:

ThunDroid was built by Aetherrax Technologies, a DPIIT-recognised Indian AI company, after seeing two bad options at 1am: a general chatbot that does not know CBT from a pep talk, or a meditation library when what you needed was to be heard. Therapy is the right tool; it is not always available. The app ships as a companion for those hours live voice, three evidence-based frameworks, a journal people will actually use, and research-backed breathing with privacy treated as architecture (on-device encryption). It is a consumer product, not a hospital system.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ThunDroid's answer:

iOS is native Swift and SwiftUI (iOS 17.6+), with StoreKit 2 subscriptions, WidgetKit lock-screen widgets, and CarPlay. Conversational support is routed through a Cloud Run backend. On-device privacy uses AES-256 encryption and the iOS Keychain, plus App Attest. An Android app is also live on Google Play. CloudKit is used where Apple cloud features apply. ThunDroid is not a medical device.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

ThunDroid's answer:

  • Individual iOS and Android subscribers (consumer app; we do not publish user names)
  • Early adopters using it as a Youper or Woebot replacement after those consumer apps shut or announced shutdown
  • People who had been using ChatGPT or Replika as a stand-in for late-night support and wanted CBT/DBT/ACT plus on-device privacy instead
  • Students and working professionals in India and globally who need a 16+ wellness companion between sessions, not an enterprise EHR
