  • Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use?
Being a co-founder, I often have to wear lots of different hats and needed a way to better manage multiple identities in my browser. I tried Chrome profiles and Firefox containers, but both felt messy. Instead, I wrote my own browser called Wavebox. It started as an Electron app but after quickly finding all the limitations, dropped Electron and built directly on top of Chromium. We're now approaching Wavebox's... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Feature suggestion: Add option to isolate information/cookies between sessions
Failing that have a look at https://wavebox.io/ which is a Chromium-based web browser built to support multi account logins. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Ditching Notion and ClickUp and all other All in One Tools
Just wanted to share my recent shift from using all-in-one productivity tools like Notion or ClickUp to using WaveBox, a productivity-focused browser. I am frustrating by all in one tools that suck. Or look like crap. Or don't work the way I would expect. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Why do people like Arc web browser?
I don't get it either. I use wavebox, which as far as I can tell has all the same features as Arc, as well more features. It's stable, fast and built off chromium just like Arc. Seriously, if whoever is reading this is looking for something like Arc, but without the wait to get into the beta.. Just get wavebox. Source: over 3 years ago

  • Microsoft Hasn't Had a Coherent GUI Strategy Since Petzold
Your post is touching on a key question: why write a Windows-specific app? I'm a developer who has built and published several apps. I want the biggest possible audience for those apps. Why would I limit those apps to Windows? (Or even to any single platform/OS?) Web apps work everywhere. The web has grown increasingly powerful and capable. Why would I invest in a technology that can only run on a single... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Show HN: Wiederhol – GitHub for Checklists
Android users can install https://wiederhol.com/ as a PWA (Progressive Web Application). Tech stack: Ruby on Rails, React, PostgreSQL, https://dokku.com/ for hosting on Hetzner, https://pwabuilder.com for the iOS app. PS: Wiederhol means 'repeat' (imperative verb form) in German. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Show HN: I built website for sharing Drum Patterns
This is amazing! Please consider adding PWA support so it can be installed as a mobile app. It’s super easy, just a manifest to add which you can generate here [0]. Also are you considering adding more drumkits? Or maybe allow a user to set their own samples (stored locally, just for themselves) like you can change the header color in HN. 0: http://pwabuilder.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Don't upload your PWA to the app stores
Even PWABuilder, a Microsoft-led open-source initiative aimed at helping developers upload their PWAs to app stores, acknowledges that PWAs making it onto the Apple App Store often do so due to oversight by reviewers rather than compliance with the guidelines. - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
  • Going crazy trying to get rid of the address bar. Here's what I've tried. Any tips by chance?
I'm trying to package this page (https://gizmoware.net/pwa_test/) into an APK PWA using pwabuilder.com, and no matter what I do I get the dreaded URL bar and "asset links verification failed". Here's my process:. Source: over 3 years ago
