Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing VS Code and MaruPets.app.

What makes your product unique?

MaruPets.app's answer:

MaRu combines QR pet identification, digital pet profiles, scan location alerts, and privacy protection in one simple platform.

When a lost pet's QR tag is scanned, the finder can access essential information without needing to install an app. At the same time, private owner information remains protected, and the scan location can be sent directly to the owner's MaRu inbox.

MaRu is designed to make the process simple for both pet owners and the people who find their pets.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

MaruPets.app's answer:

MaRu focuses on making lost pet recovery simple, fast, and privacy-conscious.

Instead of requiring the finder to download an app or exposing private owner contact details, MaRu allows anyone to scan a QR tag with their phone and access the information needed to help the pet. The scan location can also be sent to the pet owner's MaRu inbox.

MaRu brings pet identification, location awareness, and privacy together in one experience.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

MaruPets.app's answer:

MaRu is designed primarily for dog and cat owners who want an additional layer of safety and identification for their pets.

It is especially useful for pet owners concerned about their pets getting lost, as well as people who want a modern alternative to traditional engraved ID tags.

MaRu can also be useful for pet shelters, rescue organizations, breeders, and other pet care communities.

What's the story behind your product?

MaruPets.app's answer:

MaRu started with a simple idea: losing a pet is stressful, and helping them get home should be easier.

Traditional pet tags often provide limited information, while sharing a phone number publicly can create privacy concerns. We wanted to build a safer and more flexible alternative.

That idea became MaRu: a digital pet safety platform where each pet can have a unique QR identity, an accessible public profile, and a safer way to reconnect with their owner.

Our mission is simple: less searching, less waiting, and a safer way home for every pet.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

MaruPets.app's answer:

MaRu is built using Flutter for the mobile application, Supabase for authentication, database, and backend services, and modern web technologies for the public QR pet profiles and website.

Key technologies include:

  • Flutter
  • Dart
  • Supabase
  • PostgreSQL
  • JavaScript
  • HTML and CSS
  • QR Code technology
