SiteMonit is a website change monitoring service. It tracks web pages you select and detects when their content changes, then reports precisely what changed rather than only signaling that an update occurred.

Each detected change is presented as a before-and-after comparison. The previous and current versions are shown side by side, with every added or removed word highlighted. A Text mode annotates the page in the style of tracked changes: removed text is struck through in red and added text is marked in green. A change map called the Diff Axis lists the individual edits so they can be reviewed one by one instead of scanning the full page.

Monitoring runs on a schedule set by the user. Intervals range from monthly to every 15 minutes, and as short as about two minutes on higher-tier plans.

Monitoring can be limited to a specific part of a page, such as a price, a heading, or a status field. Because only the selected area is tracked, rotating banners, advertisements, and other unrelated content do not produce false alerts. Pages that require a login and pages protected by Cloudflare are also supported.

When a change is detected, SiteMonit sends a notification through email, Telegram, Slack, or a webhook.

SiteMonit is applied to a range of monitoring tasks, including tracking competitors' pricing, messaging, and product updates; detecting restocks and price drops in e-commerce; monitoring terms-of-service, policy, and compliance pages; observing SERP and SEO changes; watching for new job postings; and following real-estate and marketplace listings.

The tool allows users to customize the frequency of checks, the area of the web page to monitor, and the type of content changes to be alerted about. This flexibility can be highly beneficial for different use cases.
  • Versatility
It supports various types of content monitoring including text, visual, and structural changes, making it suitable for diverse requirements such as SEO monitoring, product tracking, and compliance checks.
  • Notification Options
Visualping provides multiple notification options including email, Slack, API, and browser notifications, catering to different user preferences.
  • Free Tier
Visualping offers a free tier with limited checks per month, making it accessible for casual or light users.
  • Scale
Visualping can scale with the needs of the user, offering paid plans that support increased monitoring frequency and additional features.

Possible disadvantages of Visualping

  • Cost
While there is a free tier, the cost of paid plans can be relatively high for small businesses or individual users who need more frequent checks.
  • False Positives
There can be occurrences of false positives where users are notified about insignificant changes, such as minor layout adjustments or advertisements on the page.
  • Resource Intensity
Frequent monitoring can consume significant bandwidth and computational resources, potentially slowing down performance or leading to resource allocation issues.
  • Privacy Concerns
Depending on the sites being monitored, there may be privacy concerns about storing and processing the data on Visualping's servers.
  • Configuration Complexity for Advanced Features
Although the basic setup is easy, configuring advanced features and customized monitoring may require a higher level of technical knowledge.
  • Limited Mobile App Support
Visualping's functionality is primarily web-based, and there is limited support for mobile apps, which could be a downside for users who prefer managing alerts on mobile devices.

SiteMonit features and specs

  • Before/after diff viewer
Each check opens as a before/after comparison you scrub with a slider over full-page screenshots.
  • Diff Axis change map
A live map on the divider marks every change โ€” added, removed, edited and moved โ€” so you can click straight to it, even one changed digit on a large page.
  • Text mode
Annotates the page in place like tracked changes: removed words struck through in red, additions shown in green.
  • Whole-page or area/element monitoring
Watch the full page, a selected element, or a drawn area, so ad banners and rotating content don't trigger false alerts.
  • Scheduled checks
Per-task frequency from monthly down to every 15 minutes on paid plans.
  • Real-browser rendering
Every check renders the page in a real browser, so JavaScript-heavy sites are captured and compared correctly.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Visualping and SiteMonit.

What makes your product unique?

SiteMonit's answer:

SiteMonit shows exactly what changed on a page, not just that something changed. Each check opens as a before/after comparison you can scrub with a slider, and a change map on the divider โ€” the Diff Axis โ€” marks every added, removed, edited or moved item so you can click straight to it, even a single changed digit on a large page

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SiteMonit's answer:

Where many change-monitoring tools only tell you that pixels changed, SiteMonit shows what changed โ€” word by word, side by side, with a clickable change map and a tracked-changes Text mode. It renders each page in a real browser so JavaScript-heavy sites compare correctly, supports pages behind a login or Cloudflare through per-task scripted actions, and lets you watch only part of a page to avoid false alerts.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SiteMonit's answer:

SiteMonit serves both businesses and individuals. On the business side it's used for competitive intelligence (tracking competitor pricing, product launches and messaging), brand monitoring, legal and compliance monitoring of terms, privacy policies and regulatory filings, and e-commerce tracking such as price and stock changes. On the personal side it works as a watch-list for job postings, shopping and restocks, event tickets, academic deadlines and admissions, and real-estate listings.
