I was an Emacs user for many years. I used it to write my papers and dissertation (AUCTeX mode was great), and a huge amount of code. I switched to Vim, and later to NeoVim. I'd highly recommend it. I kinda gave up on TVTime a few days ago and went to https://simkl.com. Kinda like it so far. You can import your TVTime stuff (you have to send an email to TVTime but they responded within an hour so don't let that put you down). It's way more up to date and responsive! Source: about 3 years ago
