It's for investors AFAICT. When Masayoshi Son opens your home page it better say 'AI' in big bold letters. Is your product a search engine? It's AI now. [1][2] Is it a cache? Actually, it's AI. [3] A load balancer? Believe it or not, AI. [4] [1] https://www.elastic.co/ [2] https://vespa.ai/ [3] https://redis.io/ [4] https://www.f5.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
In cases where a company possesses a strong technological foundation and faces a substantial workload demanding advanced vector search capabilities, its ideal solution lies in adopting a specialized vector database. Prominent options in this domain include Chroma (having raised $20 million), Zilliz (having raised $113 million), Pinecone (having raised $138 million), Qdrant (having raised $9.8 million), Weaviate... - Source: dev.to / about 1 year ago
If you're serious about scaling up, definitely consider Vespa (https://vespa.ai). At serious scale, Vespa will likely knock all the other options out of the park. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Yahoo released their geographic data catalogue under open license and it still lives on as https://whosonfirst.org/ Afaik https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_ZooKeeper started at Yahoo https://vespa.ai/ was Yahoo's search engine for news and other content product, now spinned off (https://techcrunch.com/2023/10/04/yahoo-spins-out-vespa-its-search-tech-into-an-independent-company/). - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Thanks, will take a look at that curl thing. We are still using this and been working for us for ~15 years (python 2, ported to python 3) and this is just an example of how to take https://fabfile.org to the extreme but still is not the best way to do it. We only ~50 servers so it is not a massive fleet. The convenience of typing `fab ` to do things under control is still better than nothing :). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I've used Rake and Fabric for somewhat similar (but less ambitious) stuff in the past and I'm thinking that Fabric might be a pretty good fit for this task as well, but I'd still like your input. Are there other tools I should look into? I've heard goodthings about Puppet but just looking at their site (it contains the word Enterprise ) gives me the feeling that it might be overkill for a one man operation. Source: about 4 years ago
