Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ValueMarkers and Open Devdocs.

What makes your product unique?

ValueMarkers's answer

Full transparency. Every score shows exactly how it was calculated - the formula, the weights, the source data, the assumptions. Most stock analysis tools are black boxes. ValueMarkers is a glass box. You can challenge any number and adjust any assumption. The Quality Triple Check combining Piotroski F-Score, Altman Z-Score, and Beneish M-Score in a single view is something no competitor offers out of the box.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ValueMarkers's answer

If you want to understand the math behind a stock score, not just trust it blindly, ValueMarkers is the only platform built from the ground up for that purpose. Competitors like GuruFocus, TIKR, and Simply Wall St provide data but don't let you see or edit the assumptions behind their valuations. ValueMarkers shows every weight, every formula, and lets you adjust DCF assumptions in real time with sensitivity analysis. It also covers 73 exchanges globally where many competitors focus only on US markets.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ValueMarkers's answer

Self-directed value investors who make their own investment decisions based on fundamental analysis. They want data and transparency, not recommendations. Typically experienced enough to understand financial ratios but want a tool that organizes 120+ indicators into a coherent framework. Ranges from individual retail investors analyzing their first DCF to financial advisors screening for client portfolios.

What's the story behind your product?

ValueMarkers's answer

Founded in 2026 by Javier Sanz, a software engineer and value investor. After years of using stock analysis tools that hid their methodology, he built the platform he wished existed - one where every assumption is visible and every score can be verified. The name reflects the mission: marking the value of stocks through transparent, glass-box analysis rather than opaque ratings.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ValueMarkers's answer

Next.js 14 with React 18 and TypeScript on the frontend. FastAPI with Python on the backend. PostgreSQL for the database. Redis for caching. Tailwind CSS for the UI. Sanity CMS for content management. Claude API for AI-powered analysis. Deployed on a Linux VPS with PM2 and nginx.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

ValueMarkers's answer

  • Individual value investors in the US, Europe, and Asia
  • Self-directed retail investors using fundamental analysis
  • Financial bloggers and investment newsletter writers
  • Small investment advisory firms
  • University finance students and professors
