  • Learning curve for setup
Configuring custom workflows and integrations, especially with Salesforce, can require technical expertise or additional setup time for teams unfamiliar with the platform.

While the Salesforce integration is strong, the platform may have limited native integrations with other popular business tools compared to more established e-signature providers.
  • Customer support variability
Some users report inconsistent experiences with customer support responsiveness and resolution times, which can be a concern for businesses relying on timely assistance.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ValidaSign and HankoSign.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

HankoSign's answer:

Cloud-native serverless architecture on AWS, built with Node.js. Documents are signed using PKI with RFC 3161 timestamps from a public timestamp authority, producing standards-conformant PDFs that validate in Adobe Acrobat. Billing is handled by Stripe.

What makes your product unique?

HankoSign's answer:

Most e-signature tools attach a signature image and store the audit trail on their own servers. HankoSign seals each completed document with a PKI digital signature and a trusted timestamp from a third-party timestamp authority, then appends the Certificate of Completion inside the signed PDF itself. The evidence travels with the file — anyone can open it in Adobe Acrobat and confirm it hasn't been altered since signing, without an account and without involving us.

It's also built and run by one developer, which is why the pricing looks the way it does. The API and webhooks are on a $49/month plan rather than an enterprise contract.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

HankoSign's answer:

Price and scope. If you need documents signed and don't need a contract-lifecycle platform, most of what you'd pay for elsewhere is capability you won't use. HankoSign starts free, paid plans start at $7/month, and the REST API with HMAC-signed webhooks is included at $49/month.

Where it won't be the right choice: there's no HIPAA compliance or BAA, no SAML SSO, and no white-labeling. If you need those, buy the enterprise product.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

HankoSign's answer:

Individuals, solo operators, and small teams who send documents for signature regularly but don't have procurement, a legal department, or an IT administrator. Also developers who want signature capability in their own product without an enterprise sales cycle — the REST API and webhooks are documented publicly at hankosign.com/developers.

What's the story behind your product?

HankoSign's answer:

Built by an independent developer who wanted e-signature that was priced for one person and produced documents whose authenticity could be verified without trusting the vendor. A hanko is the personal seal used in Japan in place of a signature — the name comes from the idea that a document should carry its own proof.

Launched publicly in August 2026. Not affiliated with Hanko (the open-source authentication project) or Hanko AI.
