Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing URLcut.ai and GitHub Codespaces.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

URLcut.ai's answer

Launched November 2025, so this is an early-stage user base rather than a logo list, and naming individual customers is not something to do without asking them.

The recurring shapes are agencies and freelancers running links for several clients, in-house marketers publishing across multiple channels, and founders running product launches.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

URLcut.ai's answer

The API and web app are built on .NET and Blazor Server, with PostgreSQL for storage and Redis caching to keep redirects fast. AI slug suggestions use Anthropic's Claude with a custom page-parsing pipeline. Hosted in the EU.

What's the story behind your product?

URLcut.ai's answer

URLcut started as an answer to a narrow problem: creating a decent short link meant thinking one up by hand every time, and the fallback was a random string that looks like spam and tends to get treated like it.

The first version solved that. Read the page, suggest a slug. What became clear afterwards was that naming was the small problem. The larger one is that a flat list of links cannot tell you which campaign, which channel or which client produced a result, and that most click counts include a good deal of bot and preview traffic.

So the product became campaign link management with the shortener underneath it: folders by client, brand and campaign, per-channel reporting, bot filtering, and team access scoped per client. Built in 2025 and still run by its founder.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

URLcut.ai's answer

Teams and individuals running campaigns where the same link needs to be branded, tracked and reported on afterwards.

The clearest fit is anyone handling several clients or brands at once, where links have to stay separated and each client needs its own report. That is what the Client/Brand/Campaign structure and the Agency plan's scoped access exist for.

Beyond that, anyone publishing across more than one channel who needs to know which channel produced the clicks, and who wants a branded domain rather than a shared one that can carry other people's spam history.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

URLcut.ai's answer

Structure, honest numbers, and flat pricing.

Most short links end up in one long list, and the work of turning that into a report is manual. URLcut groups links by client, brand and campaign at creation, so per-channel and per-client reporting is already there.

Click counts are filtered for bots and link-preview fetches by default, which usually makes the reported number lower and the decisions better.

Pricing is flat and published, with no per-click charges, no expiring links, and no enterprise tier to negotiate. Custom domains are included on Pro rather than reserved for a sales call.

What makes your product unique?

URLcut.ai's answer

URLcut reads the page you are shortening and suggests a readable slug from its content, so links come out as urlcut.ai/ai-marketing-guide rather than a random string. That happens in seconds, and you can edit the slug afterwards.

The second thing is structure. Links live in Client, Brand and Campaign folders rather than one flat list, reporting rolls up across every client and brand, and human clicks are separated from bots and link-preview fetches so the numbers describe real people.

The Agency plan puts that on a team: 5 seats, Read/Write/Admin roles, and access that can be scoped to a single client without exposing the rest of the account.
