Possible disadvantages of Upsie

  • Limited Brand Recognition
Compared to some established warranty providers, Upsie may lack brand recognition, which might make some potential customers hesitant to try their services.
  • Availability
Some consumers might find that coverage is not available for certain products or brands, limiting its appeal to those with specific needs.
  • Claim Process
While generally straightforward, some users may encounter complexities or delays during the claims process, which can be frustrating if issues aren't resolved promptly.
  • U.S. Market Focus
As of now, Upsie's services predominantly focus on the U.S. market, which limits international customers from accessing their warranty solutions.

GitHub Codespaces features and specs

GitHub Codespaces allows for quick setup of development environments, enabling developers to start coding within minutes.
  • Consistency
By using Codespaces, all team members can work in consistent development environments, avoiding the 'works on my machine' problem.
  • Scalable

  • Integrated with GitHub
Seamless integration with GitHub means that Codespaces takes advantage of all GitHub features like pull requests, issues, and workflows directly within the development environment.

Developers can define the configuration of their development environments using devcontainer.json files, making it easy to set up tailored workspaces.
  • Remote Development
Codespaces allows developers to work from virtually anywhere without needing to rely on the power of their local machines.

Possible disadvantages of GitHub Codespaces

  • Cost
Using Codespaces incurs a cost based on compute and storage resources, which can add up, especially for larger teams or more intensive projects.
  • Internet Reliance
Codespaces are cloud-based, so a stable internet connection is required. Any disruption in connectivity can hinder development progress.
  • Customization Limitations
While customizable, Codespaces may not support all specific or advanced development setups or niche tools as effectively as local environments.
  • Performance Variability
Performance might vary depending on the selected instance type and current load on GitHub's infrastructure.
  • Dependency on GitHub Ecosystem
Codespaces are tightly integrated with GitHub, which could be a downside for teams that use other platforms or who prefer a more platform-independent solution.
  • Learning Curve
Developers unfamiliar with cloud-based environments may face a learning curve when first transitioning to Codespaces.

  • Should I buy the LG 38WN95C-W?
The same would apply to the LG38 in regards to life span/GPU viability ... But I would definitely find some way to either extend or purchase a 3rd party warranty for it; the LG one year warranty is basically insulting imo for such an investment. I recently bought an LG C1 OLED and it too came with the dumb 1 year warranty so first thing I did was buy a 5 year extended warranty via Upsie. Peace of mind and all... Source: over 4 years ago

Also ... If you haven't already done so, you can get a 5 year warranty with Upsie that includes burn in protection for a very reasonable price. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Device protection/Refurbished devices seem like a scam.
Though I've never had to use it, I think Upsie provides a lot more for your money. It's an upfront charge for 2 years of coverage (usually works out to less than $5 per month) with a much lower deductible. After 2 years, the street price of a refurbished version of your phone is gonna be pretty cheap on Amazon. Source: about 5 years ago

An IDE-bound agent requires you to also forward your IDE to the remote box, which most people don't bother... - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
