Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Unity Multiplayer and TurnKit.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

TurnKit's answer:

Indie game devs and studios.

What makes your product unique?

TurnKit's answer:

Basic relay just forwards messages. TurnKit Relay enforces turns, hides hands and has enforces voting result (end game, skip turn on illegal move as voted by clients).

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

TurnKit's answer:

Speeds up development overall, adds security over basic relay and skips infrastructure and headache of building your own server. It is specifically built for turn based games while competition targets any game.

What's the story behind your product?

TurnKit's answer:

I built many times as a freelancer multiplayer turn games for clients and it was taking too much time, but simple relays were too insecure and hacking even in unpopular games would break them fast. This was a solution I used to build games on top of and give clients faster results.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

TurnKit's answer:

Its powered by modern Java 25 backend with Spring making it engine agnostic. Also provided is a Unity SDK and general docs for other engines to implement their own SDK.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

TurnKit's answer:

We just launched, looking for devs to try it. Biggest customer are some of my games built for clients.

  • I teach Unreal. I had an easier time making my game in LittleBigPlanet. That cannot be right, what am I missing.
I never said that Unreal is bad for non BRs, just that it is very good for BRs. The amount of work they put into making Fortnite work as well as it does puts it way above anything else for large match based shooters. I agree that Unity's old multiplayer code was an absolute mess, and I would have previously suggested using a third party solution. I was saying that I've heard good things about their new multiplayer... Source: about 4 years ago
