QuartoIt is very well built with simplicity in mind. There are several themes and all of them look amazing. I love the "typewriter" and "focus" mode. In contrast with other apps that focus the current window and remove all visibility options, Typora goes one step ahead and fades down all other paragraphs as well.

I'm in no way saying that markdown is perfect but it is much better than anything else I've used. It's got me through both a bachelors and masters. The author of this article appears to be unaware of pandoc, and even better quarto.
