Exstats started because developers shipping browser extensions kept running into the same wall. The Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, and Firefox Add-ons each give publishers a siloed view with short history, no competitor data, and no way to compare a release against a rival over time. Teams that maintained extensions on more than one store ended up checking three dashboards a day and keeping competitor numbers in spreadsheets.
