TracePass โ€” EU Digital Product Passport compliance, automated.

The EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the Battery Regulation are making Digital Product Passports (DPPs) mandatory across the European market โ€” starting with batteries on 18 February 2027, followed by textiles, electronics and many other product groups. Every covered product needs a passport carrying its materials, carbon footprint, recycled content, repair and end-of-life data, accessible via a QR code. No passport, no market access โ€” and the obligation applies to non-EU manufacturers selling into the EU too.

The hard part isn't printing the QR code โ€” it's getting verified upstream data into the dozens of mandatory fields. TracePass solves exactly that:

  • AI data extraction โ€” upload spec sheets, certificates and BOMs; the AI fills the required fields with confidence scores, so you review rather than retype.
  • GS1 Digital Link QR codes โ€” standards-compliant, resolving to a hosted, multilingual passport.
  • Multi-sector coverage โ€” batteries (91 fields), textiles, electronics (166 fields), construction, furniture, packaging and more.
  • EPCIS 2.0 supply-chain events, a full audit trail, and regulatory monitoring that keeps passports current as the rules evolve.
  • Integrations โ€” CSV import and a REST API, working alongside SAP, Odoo and NetSuite.

Built and hosted entirely in the EU. Instead of 3โ€“6 months and โ‚ฌ30,000โ€“100,000+ in manual and consultant work, manufacturers get a compliant passport in minutes.

Founded 2026 ยท Sofia, Bulgaria ยท Free tier available; paid plans from โ‚ฌ350/month.

CodeClassify is a suite of 16 free, browser-based tools plus a deterministic REST API and downloadable CSV datasets for validating, converting and classifying product and business codes: GTIN/UPC/EAN barcode check digits, ISBN, IBAN (MOD-97), EU VAT, VIN, SSCC pallet codes, ISO 6346 containers, ABA routing numbers, and business classifications (NAICS 2022, SIC 1987, the SICโ†”NAICS crosswalk and HS customs codes).

Every result is computed from official public standards (GS1 Mod-10, ISO 13616, U.S. Census, U.S. HTS) โ€” the same input always returns the same output, with no AI guessing. The free tools need no sign-up and run entirely in the browser; the API and datasets handle bulk validation and automation.

Analysis of TracePass.eu

Overall verdict

  • I don't have reliable, verified information about TracePass.eu to confirm whether it is a legitimate or high-quality service, so I cannot genuinely vouch for it. Treat any endorsement with caution and do your own due diligence before using or paying for it.

Why this product is good

  • The service is not widely documented or independently reviewed in sources I can verify, so its reputation is unclear.
  • Legitimate services typically have transparent company information, clear terms of service, and verifiable contact detailsโ€”check whether TracePass.eu provides these.
  • Look for independent reviews on platforms like Trustpilot, Reddit, or consumer forums rather than relying on the site's own claims.
  • Be cautious with any site requesting personal data, payment, or identity documents until you confirm it uses secure connections (HTTPS) and has a clear privacy policy compliant with GDPR.

Recommended for

  • Users who have independently verified the site's legitimacy and reputation through trusted third-party reviews
  • People who have confirmed the service offers what they specifically need and provides transparent terms and pricing
  • Cautious consumers who will test with minimal personal or financial exposure before committing fully

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing TracePass.eu and CodeClassify.

What makes your product unique?

TracePass.eu's answer

Most DPP tools help you build a passport. TracePass tackles the part that actually slows manufacturers down: getting verified upstream data into the dozens of fields a regulation demands.

Upload your existing documents โ€” spec sheets, supplier declarations, certificates, BOMs โ€” and an AI agent pipeline extracts and fills the mandatory fields with confidence scores, so your team reviews instead of retypes. The result is a compliant, hosted passport with a GS1 QR code in minutes rather than months, across 12+ product groups from batteries to textiles to electronics.

CodeClassify's answer:

CodeClassify is deterministic: every result is computed from official public standards (GS1 Mod-10, ISO 13616, ISO 3779, U.S. Census NAICS/SIC, U.S. HTS), so the same input always returns the same output โ€” no AI guessing, no invented codes. It's also unusually broad: one place to validate, convert and classify barcodes (GTIN/UPC/EAN), ISBN, IBAN, EU VAT, VIN, SSCC, ISO 6346 containers, ABA routing numbers, and business codes (NAICS/SIC/HS) โ€” as free browser tools, a REST API, and downloadable datasets.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

TracePass.eu's answer

Three reasons:

  • Speed โ€” AI does the data-entry heavy lifting, turning a 3โ€“6 month, โ‚ฌ30kโ€“100k+ compliance project into minutes of review.
  • Breadth โ€” many DPP tools specialise in one sector (often fashion); TracePass covers 12+ product groups, each with its own ESPR field set, including the battery passport mandatory from February 2027.
  • Built for the EU โ€” hosted entirely in the EU, on GS1 Digital Link and EPCIS 2.0 standards, with regulatory monitoring that keeps passports current and a REST API, MCP server and n8n integration that fit alongside SAP, Odoo and NetSuite.

CodeClassify's answer:

Most alternatives are single-purpose (just barcodes, or just IBAN) or AI-based classifiers that can hallucinate codes that don't exist. CodeClassify covers every major product and business code in one place, computes results from official standards (auditable and repeatable), and offers three ways to use it: free tools with no sign-up, a deterministic API for bulk and automation, and clean CSV datasets. It's built for feeds, compliance and data pipelines where "the same answer every time" matters.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

TracePass.eu's answer

EU manufacturers and importers who must comply with the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the EU Battery Regulation โ€” and non-EU manufacturers selling into the EU, who are equally in scope.

It's built for the product, quality and regulatory teams inside those companies who need to produce Digital Product Passports without hiring consultants or building infrastructure in-house. Battery, electronics and textile producers feel the deadline first.

CodeClassify's answer:

E-commerce sellers & ops validating GTIN/UPC/EAN before listing on Amazon, eBay or Shopify

Developers & data engineers needing a deterministic API for bulk validation and classification

Accountants & analysts working with NAICS/SIC business codes

Logistics, customs & trade teams handling HS codes, SSCC pallets and ISO 6346 containers

Finance/fintech teams checking IBAN, EU VAT and routing numbers

What's the story behind your product?

TracePass.eu's answer

The EU's Digital Product Passport rules create a hard, legislated deadline โ€” batteries on 18 February 2027, textiles and electronics close behind โ€” yet most manufacturers face it with fragmented supplier data sitting in PDFs and spreadsheets.

TracePass was built on a simple observation: the QR code is the easy part; the real bottleneck is the verified data behind it. So we built a platform that uses AI to turn the documents companies already have into compliant, hosted passports โ€” making EU compliance something a manufacturer can do itself, in minutes.

CodeClassify's answer:

CodeClassify started from a simple frustration: product and business codes are everywhere, but checking them meant a dozen scattered, ad-heavy sites โ€” and newer "AI" tools would confidently return codes that don't exist. The goal was one clean, fast place that computes every answer from the official standard, keeps the everyday tools free and sign-up-free, and offers an API and datasets for teams that need to work at scale.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

TracePass.eu's answer

Next.js and React with TypeScript, backed by MongoDB. The data-extraction pipeline uses Anthropic's Claude models in a multi-agent setup, with OCR and document parsing for PDFs, spreadsheets and Office files.

Passports are published on GS1 Digital Link with EPCIS 2.0 supply-chain events, and the platform exposes a REST API, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, and an n8n integration. Built and hosted in the EU.

CodeClassify's answer:

CodeClassify runs on Cloudflare Pages for the static tools and Cloudflare Workers + D1 for the API and dashboard. The validation and classification logic is implemented directly from official public standards and datasets (GS1, ISO, U.S. Census, U.S. HTS). Payments are handled by Stripe, and the API is also distributed on RapidAPI.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

TracePass.eu's answer

  • Vantony (pilot / design partner)
