TotalFinder features and specs

  • Tab Management
TotalFinder enhances macOS Finder by introducing a tabbed interface, allowing users to manage multiple Finder windows within a single window seamlessly. This improves organization and workspace efficiency.
  • Dual Pane View
The dual pane view feature lets users compare and move files between two different directories without having to open multiple windows, thereby streamlining file management tasks.
  • Visor Feature
TotalFinder includes the Visor feature, which provides users with a quick-access, system-wide Finder window that can be toggled with a simple keystroke. This enhances accessibility and workflow speed.
  • Folder Organization
It offers the option to keep folders on top when sorting by name, which is not natively available in macOS Finder, thus making it easier to locate directories amidst numerous files.
  • Cut and Paste Support
Unlike the default Finder, TotalFinder enables true cut and paste functionalities for files, making file operations more intuitive for users familiar with this feature from other operating systems.

Possible disadvantages of TotalFinder

  • System Integration
As a third-party application, TotalFinder modifies the default Finder, which can lead to potential stability issues and conflicts with future macOS updates. Apple's system design inherently limits some integrations for security and stability reasons.
  • Cost
TotalFinder is a paid application, which may not be appealing to users who prefer free alternatives or are satisfied with the default Finder's capabilities.
  • Limited Customization
While TotalFinder offers several enhancements, it lacks the extensive customization features available in some other third-party Finder replacements, potentially limiting its appeal to power users who want a highly tailored experience.
  • Deprecated Support
Development and support for TotalFinder may not be as robust as those provided by Apple for the system's default Finder. This can mean slower updates or a lack of support for new macOS features.
  • Compatibility Issues
There can be compatibility issues with certain system configurations or third-party extensions, which might necessitate troubleshooting or reverting to default Finder functionality.

Nullstack features and specs

  • Full-Stack Capabilities
Nullstack allows for the development of both client-side and server-side functionalities within a single project, providing a more unified development process.
  • Seamless SSR
It offers built-in support for server-side rendering, improving performance and SEO without the need for complex configurations.
  • Zero tooling
Nullstack provides a setup that requires minimal configuration and does not depend heavily on additional tools, simplifying the development workflow.
  • Component-based Architecture
Promotes the use of components, encouraging modularity and reusability of code, which can improve maintainability and scalability of applications.
  • Hot Module Replacement
Supports HMR, allowing developers to see immediate changes in their applications without refreshing the entire page, improving development efficiency.

Possible disadvantages of Nullstack

  • Smaller Community
Compared to more established frameworks, Nullstack has a smaller community, which can result in fewer resources and third-party tools.
  • Learning Curve
Developers need to learn the Nullstack-specific ways of handling both front-end and back-end development, which might be a hurdle for those accustomed to other frameworks.
  • Limited Ecosystem
Due to its newer and less widely adopted nature, there might be limited third-party libraries and plugins readily available compared to more mature frameworks.
  • Rapidly Evolving
Being relatively new and possibly evolving quickly, developers might face breaking changes more frequently compared to more established technologies.

Back in 2010 I upgrade from a MDD tower Powermac to a Mac Mini (CD tray) and I was so amazed that never bought another Mac tower again. I use CCC to clone my drive to the mini and so on. Now I have that Mac Mini 2012 just for audio production. I donโ€™t even use it for internet or anything else. I have a crossover cable to my main Mac so I can manage files between them.
