BoxWatch is server monitoring that does the job of four tools at once: metrics, cron heartbeats, uptime checks, and process monitoring. One agent, one dashboard, one bill.
Most teams stitch together Datadog (or similar) for metrics, Healthchecks.io for cron, UptimeRobot for HTTP checks, and a separate supervisor for processes. BoxWatch replaces all of that.
Metrics: CPU, memory, disk, network, load, and uptime, collected by a small open-source bash agent installed with one curl command. Trend charts, side-by-side comparison views, and disk-full prediction that warns you days before a volume actually fills.
Cron heartbeats: ping a URL when a job finishes, get alerted when the ping is late or missing. Four alert types with transition-based dedup so you never get spammed.

Built by a solo developer who kept needing three or four separate services โ a cron scheduler, an uptime monitor, a heartbeat/dead-man's-switch tool, email validation โ to cover what felt like one operational need for small serverless apps. Tickstem consolidates all of it under one API key instead.

I built BoxWatch for myself. I run a bunch of servers, and a few of them had gone down or filled their disk because some log file went nuts. I shopped the monitoring tools and the prices were absurd for what I actually needed, so I hacked together a tiny script that texted me when something died.
Then friends started asking to use it. One ran a small agency and wanted Slack alerts for client servers. Another wanted a TV in his office showing every box at a glance. Another asked for branded status pages he could send to his customers.
So I kept building what people actually asked for, not what a product roadmap told me to build. Cron heartbeats came from a customer monitoring nightly database dumps. Uptime checks came from someone who hated paying UptimeRobot a second bill on top of mine. Process monitoring came from a third person who kept getting paged for queue workers that had silently exited.
BoxWatch is the monitoring tool I wished existed before I wrote it. Turns out a lot of other people wished the same.
