LessCMS.io

No description of Tailwind CSS yet.

LessCMS is a lightweight CMS for businesses and agencies, built in Poland. It combines a visual drag-and-drop page editor (78 widgets, separate desktop/tablet/phone settings) with a read-only headless API, so one project can be a full website on your own domain or a content backend for Nuxt or...

Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

Tailwind CSS 7 features
LessCMS.io 12 features
  • Utility-First Approach
Tailwind CSS uses a utility-first approach, promoting the use of small, reusable utility classes to style elements directly in your markup. This can lead to more readable and maintainable HTML.
  • Customization
The framework is highly customizable. You can easily configure its default theme, add your extensions, and create custom utilities. Tailwind’s config file allows for deep customization of all aspects of the framework.
  • Consistent Design
Using utility classes ensures design consistency because the same classes will apply the same styles globally.
  • Responsive Design
Tailwind CSS has excellent built-in support for responsive design. You can easily apply different styles for different screen sizes using responsive utility variants.
  • Performance
Tailwind purges unused CSS in production, resulting in smaller final output files and improved performance.
  • Integrates Well with Frameworks
Tailwind CSS integrates smoothly with modern JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue, and Angular.
  • JIT Compiler
The Just-in-Time (JIT) mode in Tailwind CSS generates styles on-demand, reducing the development build sizes and speeding up the development process.

Possible disadvantages

  • Steep Learning Curve
For developers coming from traditional CSS or other CSS frameworks, getting used to Tailwind's utility-first approach may take some time.
  • HTML Congestion
Due to the utility-first approach, HTML files can get filled with numerous utility classes, making it look cluttered and harder to read.
  • Initial Setup
Setting up Tailwind CSS initially can be complex, especially for beginners. Configuration settings and integrations with build tools can be confusing.
  • Verbosity
Some developers find the inline utility classes verbose, particularly when complex styles are required, which can lead to bloated template files.
  • Limited Abstractions
Tailwind doesn't provide higher-level abstractions such as components out of the box, like other frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap) do. Developers need to build and maintain these abstractions themselves.
  • Dependency Tailoring
While Tailwind aims to be minimalistic, it may enforce some dependencies or build tool integrations that could be unnecessary for very simple projects.
  • Visual page editor
Drag-and-drop editor with lots of widgets and separate desktop, tablet and phone settings — no CSS needed
  • Headless CMS
Read-only content API with per-project keys and Swagger docs — use with Nuxt, Next.js or any front end
  • Collections
Custom content types with text, rich text, image, gallery, file, select, date, relation and tag fields
  • Multilingual
Per-language fields, URLs and sitemap entries in one project
  • AI translation
Translate pages, fields and whole collections with AI; token cost shown before confirming
  • AI content & SEO
Generate content and SEO meta per page and language; 100,000 free AI tokens per workspace
  • SEO built in
    Server-side rendering, sitemap.xml, robots.txt, llms.txt, JSON-LD, meta tags and 301 redirects
  • Hosting & domain
Custom domain, automatic SSL, Cloudflare CDN with cache purge on publish
  • Forms
Built-in forms with Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection — no backend needed
  • Privacy
    Cookie consent banner built in
  • Version History
Preview and restore previous versions of pages and entries
  • Admin panel languages
12 languages: English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Tailwind CSS and LessCMS.io.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

LessCMS.io's answer:

  • Largest single client workspace: 52 pages

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

LessCMS.io's answer:

PHP, Vue 3, Nuxt, Node.js, MySQL, MongoDB, Cloudflare (CDN, Workers, Turnstile), OpenAI API.

What makes your product unique?

LessCMS.io's answer:

LessCMS is both a visual website builder and a headless CMS in one product. The same project can be a finished website on your own domain — edited with a drag-and-drop editor — or a content backend for your own Nuxt or Next.js front end via API. Multilingual content, AI translation, SEO, forms and cookie consent are built in, so there are no plugins to install, update or secure.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

LessCMS.io's answer:

Compared to WordPress: no plugins, no updates, no security patches — everything important is built in and hosted for you. Compared to Wix or Webflow: your content is also available through a headless API, and multilingual sites with AI translation are included instead of being expensive add-ons. Compared to Strapi or Contentful: non-technical editors get a real visual page editor, not just forms. Pricing starts with a free plan and flat monthly fees with no setup costs or long-term contracts.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

LessCMS.io's answer:

Web agencies and freelancers who build websites for clients and want to hand over a CMS that clients can edit themselves without breaking anything. Small and mid-sized businesses that want a fast, multilingual company website without maintaining WordPress. Developers who need a headless CMS with a visual editor for their Nuxt or Next.js projects.

What's the story behind your product?

LessCMS.io's answer:

LessCMS was built by Softmasters, a software house from Bielsko-Biała, Poland. After years of building and maintaining client websites on WordPress, we were tired of plugin updates, security patches and clients breaking layouts. We built LessCMS as the tool we wanted ourselves: a visual editor clients can safely use, a headless API for developers, and everything important built in. It is part of the LessTools family, together with LessCommerce for e-commerce and LessSEO.
