Symbaloo offers a visually intuitive interface that is easy to navigate, allowing users to organize their bookmarks using a simple grid or tile system.
  • Customizable
Users can personalize their dashboards with different colors, icons, and backgrounds to suit their preferences, making the user experience more engaging and tailored.
  • Cloud-Based Access
Because Symbaloo is cloud-based, users can access their bookmarks from any device with an internet connection, ensuring convenience and continuity.
  • Collaborative Features
Symbaloo allows users to share their webmixes (collections of tiles), facilitating collaboration among teams or sharing resources among peers.
  • Integration with RSS and Apps
Users can integrate RSS feeds and connectivity with other web services and apps, allowing for a centralized location for frequently accessed content.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Free Version
The free version of Symbaloo has restricted features, which may prompt users to upgrade to the premium version for full functionality and removal of ads.
  • Learning Curve for Advanced Features
While the basic interface is intuitive, users may find it challenging to master advanced features and integrations without spending time on tutorials.
  • Performance Issues
Some users report that Symbaloo can be slow to load, particularly with complex or numerous webmixes, affecting efficiency.
  • Dependence on Internet Connection
Being a cloud-based tool, Symbaloo requires a stable internet connection, which can be a limitation when users need offline access.
  • Privacy Concerns
As with many cloud-based services, users may have concerns regarding data privacy and how their bookmarks and usage data are handled.
  • Improved Code Organization
Modular JavaScript allows developers to break down code into smaller, manageable modules. This enhances code readability and maintainability by organizing related functionality together.
  • Code Reusability
Modules encourage reusability by allowing the same piece of code to be used across different projects or multiple areas of the same application, reducing redundancy.
  • Scalability
As the application grows, managing code becomes easier with modular JavaScript. Each module can be developed, tested, and maintained independently, making the codebase more scalable.
  • Encapsulation
Modules provide encapsulation, preventing variables and functions from polluting the global namespace. This reduces the risk of naming conflicts and bugs.
  • Improved Testing
With code organized into discrete modules, writing unit tests becomes more straightforward. Each module can be tested individually, leading to more reliable and maintainable tests.

Possible disadvantages

  • Increased Complexity
Introducing modularity can add complexity to the build process, as it often requires module loaders or bundlers (like Webpack or Browserify) to manage dependencies.
  • Overhead
For smaller projects, using a modular approach might be overkill, introducing unnecessary overhead in terms of setup, configuration, and code management.
  • Learning Curve
Developers unfamiliar with modular JavaScript may face a learning curve, especially when dealing with module patterns, loaders, and bundlers.
  • Dependency Management
Relying on multiple modules can lead to complex dependency chains, making it challenging to track and resolve dependencies across different modules.
  • Performance Overhead
Modular JavaScript can introduce performance overhead if not managed properly, such as loading many small modules individually, leading to increased HTTP requests.

  • Organization blocks setting own startpage in Chrome
I can't think of a reason why this is -security wise- a reason to stuck to only the companies' Office 365-splash page as everyones default startpage. My gut feeling says that enabling a 2nd tab (with a startpage I can set) is not very... Source: almost 5 years ago
