Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Subtrack and SubTrack.dev.

What makes your product unique?

SubTrack.dev's answer:

It's local-first and lives in your browser. No account, no cloud, no bank linking โ€” you add subscriptions yourself and it reminds you before each renewal, with everything stored on your own device. The only network call it makes is to verify a Premium license, if you buy one.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SubTrack.dev's answer:

Most trackers either want your bank login (Rocket Money, Truebill) or are phone apps you forget to open. SubTrack is a Chrome extension โ€” one click away while you browse โ€” and it's private by design: no account, no bank connection. It's also a one-time $6.99 for unlimited (free for 5 subs), not another monthly subscription to track your subscriptions.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SubTrack.dev's answer:

People who want to stop paying for forgotten subscriptions and free trials without handing a third party their bank login. Privacy-conscious, browser-first users. It supports multiple currencies, so it works for international users too, not just the US.

What's the story behind your product?

SubTrack.dev's answer:

Built by an independent developer who kept finding charges for things he'd stopped using. Every existing tracker wanted a bank connection or an account for what's basically a list of services with dates next to them โ€” so SubTrack went the other way: manual entry, local storage, and a quiet reminder before each renewal. Shipped to the Chrome Web Store in 2026.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SubTrack.dev's answer:

A Manifest V3 Chrome extension built with Vite, React, and TypeScript (CRXJS). Local data via chrome.storage; renewal reminders via chrome.alarms and chrome.notifications. Licensing is handled through Polar. Localized in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French.
