Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

SubTrack.dev 5 features
Subscriptions.ink 5 features
  • Subscription Tracking Focus
SubTrack.dev appears to be purpose-built for tracking recurring subscriptions, giving users a centralized place to monitor expenses like streaming services, software licenses, and memberships.
  • Simple, Lightweight Tool
As a smaller, focused web app, it likely offers a simpler and less cluttered experience compared to bulky finance management suites, making it easier to quickly log and review subscriptions.
  • Developer-Friendly Domain
Hosted under a .dev domain by an individual or small developer (makbar.dev), suggesting an indie project that may be more responsive to user feedback and quick iteration.
  • Potentially Free or Low-Cost
Indie-built tools like this are often free or very affordable compared to enterprise subscription management platforms, making it accessible for personal use.
  • Web-Based Accessibility
Being a web app, it can be accessed from any device with a browser without requiring installation, offering convenience for users who want quick access across platforms.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Brand Recognition
As a niche or indie tool, SubTrack.dev likely lacks the reputation, user base, and third-party reviews that more established subscription management apps have, making it harder to trust with financial data.
  • Uncertain Feature Depth
It may lack advanced features such as bank account integration, automatic subscription detection, spending analytics, or multi-currency support that more mature apps provide.
  • Data Security Concerns
Smaller independent projects may not have the same level of security infrastructure, compliance certifications, or data protection measures as larger, established financial tools.
  • Possible Lack of Ongoing Support
Being a personal or small-scale project, there's a risk of inconsistent updates, slow bug fixes, or even discontinuation if the developer moves on to other projects.
  • No Mobile App
If SubTrack.dev is only available as a web application without dedicated iOS or Android apps, users may find it less convenient for on-the-go subscription tracking and notifications.
  • Budget Tracking
Set a monthly budget and watch your spend against it. The overview shows progress, when you're close, and when you've gone over.
  • Upcoming Bills
See which charges land in the next week, and which are due soonest. The calendar view shows every billing date across the month.
  • Spending Analytics
Category breakdowns, billing-cycle distribution, and a 12-month forecast of upcoming renewals, so you can plan around the expensive months.
  • countdowns
Mark a subscription as a trial and get a clear countdown to renewal — no more surprise charges after the free period ends.
  • Price-increase alerts
Keep a price history for each subscription. When a service raises its price, subscriptions.ink flags the change so you can decide if it's still worth it.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing SubTrack.dev and Subscriptions.ink.

What makes your product unique?

SubTrack.dev's answer

It's local-first and lives in your browser. No account, no cloud, no bank linking — you add subscriptions yourself and it reminds you before each renewal, with everything stored on your own device. The only network call it makes is to verify a Premium license, if you buy one.

Subscriptions.ink's answer:

Honest, manual subscription tracking with real alerting — explicitly positioned against fabricated "auto-detection" and invented social proof. The differentiator is clarity and control: you enter your own data, it syncs to your account, and you can export or delete it anytime. Standout features: per-subscription price history with price-increase alerts, a "graveyard" archive that tallies money escaped from canceled subs, budget tracking, billing calendar, spending analytics, and 7-currency display.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SubTrack.dev's answer

Most trackers either want your bank login (Rocket Money, Truebill) or are phone apps you forget to open. SubTrack is a Chrome extension — one click away while you browse — and it's private by design: no account, no bank connection. It's also a one-time $6.99 for unlimited (free for 5 subs), not another monthly subscription to track your subscriptions.

Subscriptions.ink's answer:

  • Says only what the product does — no invented capabilities, metrics, or testimonials
  • User owns the data: export/import/reset/delete are first-class
  • Price-increase alerts come from real saved price history, not guesses
  • Professional "ledger" design (warm paper, one red accent) — deliberately anti-"AI slop"
  • Free to start, no credit card required

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SubTrack.dev's answer

People who want to stop paying for forgotten subscriptions and free trials without handing a third party their bank login. Privacy-conscious, browser-first users. It supports multiple currencies, so it works for international users too, not just the US.

Subscriptions.ink's answer:

Individuals paying for several digital subscriptions — streaming, music, cloud storage, software, AI tools — who want one honest view of monthly spend and when bills come due. (Inferred from copy and features; not confirmed with real user research.)

What's the story behind your product?

SubTrack.dev's answer

Built by an independent developer who kept finding charges for things he'd stopped using. Every existing tracker wanted a bank connection or an account for what's basically a list of services with dates next to them — so SubTrack went the other way: manual entry, local storage, and a quiet reminder before each renewal. Shipped to the Chrome Web Store in 2026.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SubTrack.dev's answer

A Manifest V3 Chrome extension built with Vite, React, and TypeScript (CRXJS). Local data via chrome.storage; renewal reminders via chrome.alarms and chrome.notifications. Licensing is handled through Polar. Localized in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and French.

Subscriptions.ink's answer:

Frontend: React, Vite, and Tailwind CSS Backend: Nodejs, Cloudflare, and Polar.sh
