Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Subkept and Command-C.

What makes your product unique?

Subkept's answer

Subkept is a privacy-first subscription tracker that works without connecting to your bank. Most tools in this space require open banking access or financial integrations, Subkept skips all of that. You manually log your subscriptions, and it handles the rest: tracking renewal dates, calculating monthly and annual spend, flagging trials before they convert, and letting you rate whether each subscription is actually worth keeping. It's lightweight, fast, and built for people who want clarity over their recurring costs without handing over account credentials.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Subkept's answer

No bank connection required your financial data stays with you. Subkept is purpose-built for subscription awareness, not a bloated personal finance dashboard. The interface is clean, the onboarding takes under a minute, and the core value (knowing what you're paying and whether it's worth it) is immediately obvious. For users who are privacy-conscious or simply tired of overlapping subscriptions draining their budget quietly, Subkept is the focused alternative to general-purpose expense trackers.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Subkept's answer

Freelancers, indie hackers, and budget-conscious professionals who run multiple SaaS tools and want a no-nonsense way to audit their recurring spend. Also anyone who's ever been surprised by a renewal charge they forgot about.

What's the story behind your product?

Subkept's answer

Subkept was built by a solo founder who kept losing track of trial-to-paid conversions across too many tools. The existing options either required bank access (a non-starter for privacy reasons) or were buried inside bloated finance apps. So I built a focused alternative something that just tracks subscriptions, tells you what's coming up, and helps you decide what's actually earning its place in your stack.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Subkept's answer

React + Vite, Supabase (auth and database), Cloudflare Pages (hosting and edge functions), Freemius (payments), and Resend (email reminders).
