Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Stoic. and Cipher by Sysapp.dev.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Cipher by Sysapp.dev's answer:

Cipher is for individuals and it's in beta.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Cipher by Sysapp.dev's answer:

Go microservices, SvelteKit (the app, installable as a PWA), Next.js (the website), PostgreSQL, Qdrant for search by meaning, Redis, and AWS. Insights are generated through the OpenAI and Google Gemini APIs.

What makes your product unique?

Cipher by Sysapp.dev's answer:

You don't organise anything, and you don't have to ask it anything. You just write, and over time Cipher groups related entries and comes back with a pattern you were too close to notice, what's likely driving it, and one thing to try. Every insight can be traced: ask where it came from and it quotes the lines you wrote.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Cipher by Sysapp.dev's answer:

If you want a beautiful diary, there are good ones. If you want to chat with an AI about your day, there are good ones too. Cipher is for people who want their writing to add up to something, without tagging it, linking it, or asking the right question. And because every insight shows its sources, you can check it rather than take it on trust.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Cipher by Sysapp.dev's answer:

People who already write things down, or want to: journallers, people who think in notes, people working through decisions, and people reflecting on how they feel. It suits anyone who wants to understand their own patterns. It's a reflection tool, not therapy, and it doesn't diagnose anything.

What's the story behind your product?

Cipher by Sysapp.dev's answer:

Regular journals felt like shouting into the void, and note apps were either too structured (Obsidian) or not structured enough (Apple Notes). I wanted something in between: write however I like, and have the patterns I couldn't see myself come back to me. You can't surprise yourself. Cipher is my attempt to work around that bug.
