  • HTTPS by Default
GitLab Pages provides free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates for custom domains, ensuring that all sites are served over HTTPS by default. This adds a layer of security without any additional cost or configuration complexity.
  • Access Control

Possible disadvantages of GitLab Pages

  • Limited to Static Sites
GitLab Pages is designed to host only static sites. Dynamic features like server-side processing, databases, and real-time interactions are not supported, limiting the type of applications you can deploy.
  • Learning Curve
Setting up GitLab Pages and configuring GitLab CI/CD pipelines can be complex for new users who are not familiar with GitLab's ecosystem. This can be a barrier to entry for beginners or those looking for a simpler setup process.
  • Dependency on GitLab Infrastructure
GitLab Pages is directly tied to GitLab's infrastructure. Any downtime or performance issues with GitLab itself can affect the availability and reliability of your deployed static site.
  • Limited Customization Options
Customization options for the build and deployment environments are somewhat limited compared to other static site hosting solutions. Advanced users may find these limitations restrictive when trying to tailor the deployment environment to specific needs.
  • No Built-in Analytics
GitLab Pages does not offer built-in analytics or visitor tracking. Users need to integrate third-party analytics services, which requires additional setup and may not be as tightly integrated as native solutions.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Statpio and GitLab Pages.

What makes your product unique?

Statpio's answer

Statpio is built specifically for agency client handover and zero-backend web development. Unlike traditional hosting platforms that only serve files, Statpio provides 100% white-label client portals (allowing agencies to host sites under their own brand), native edge HTML form capture with Turnstile spam protection (eliminating the need for third-party form backends), and privacy-first analytics with zero tracking scripts or cookie consent banners required.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Statpio's answer

--> Client Portals & White-Labeling: Instead of exposing complex developer dashboards or paying $20/mo per seat on Vercel/Netlify, Statpio lets you invite clients to clean portals branded with your agency logo and colors.

--> All-in-One Out of the Box: You get hosting, contact form capture, privacy analytics, password protection, and automated custom domain SSL without paying for 3โ€“4 separate SaaS tools.

--> AI Builder Friendly: Effortlessly deploy static code exported from AI tools like Lovable, Bolt.new, v0, and ChatGPT via simple drag-and-drop ZIP or API. Transparent, Affordable Pricing: Full Pro access is just $4/month (or $39/year) with 10 custom domains included.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Statpio's answer

Statpioโ€™s primary audience consists of freelance web designers, digital marketing agencies, and modern frontend developers building static websites (HTML, React, Vite, Astro, Tailwind). It is also tailored for creators and indie founders using AI website builders (Lovable, Bolt.new, Cursor, ChatGPT) who need an instant, professional way to host projects with working contact forms.

What's the story behind your product?

Statpio's answer

As web developers and agency creators, we loved the speed and reliability of static sites and modern frontend frameworks. However, every client project required stitching together separate paid tools for form processing (Formspree), analytics (Plausible), and custom domains, while platforms like Netlify and Vercel became increasingly complex and expensive. We built Statpio to be the all-in-one hosting and client delivery platform we always wished existedโ€”simple, fast, privacy-focused, and 100% white-label.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Statpio's answer

Next.js, React, TypeScript, Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare R2 Storage, Cloudflare D1 Database, Cloudflare Workers AI (Llama 3.1), Web Crypto API, and Cloudflare Turnstile.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Statpio's answer

  • Independent Web Design & Digital Marketing Agencies
  • Freelance Frontend & UI/UX Developers
  • AI App Builders & Prompt Engineers (Lovable, Bolt.new, v0 users)
  • Early-stage SaaS Founders & Indie Hackers
  • Content Creators & Portfolio Site Owners
