Analysis of Kiwi for Gmail

Overall verdict

  • Kiwi for Gmail is a good option for users who prefer a dedicated app for managing their Gmail accounts and appreciate additional features like offline access and Google services integration. However, it might not be necessary for users satisfied with Gmail's web version or those who use email clients like Outlook or Apple Mail.

  • Users who manage multiple Gmail accounts and need a seamless switching experience.
  • Those who value offline access to their emails.
  • Individuals who prefer a desktop app interface over a web browser.

I like htmx, LiveView, React and Solid. They are great at different points, so I try to combine them in Solv (Stateless Offline-capable LiveView) and write a prototype to show the benefits. Solv's main idea is that stateless servers keep client's state in a volatile cache. It enables server components that are also interactive, which is best of both worlds between LiveView and htmx.
