Squadcast is the only Integrated Reliability platform that unites on-call alerting and incident management along with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) workflows under one hood and, in turn, automates human tasks efficiently.

Our goal is to be the most user-friendly incident management platform helping engineers do on-call scheduling and incident response, the SRE way.

Over the last few years, we have been diligently building and learning how to make alerting & on-call management more intuitive at a reactive level and automate SRE workflows at a proactive level. Our approach to long-term reliability, by rapidly evolving the way incident management is carried out, has resonated well with DevOps/SRE/IT teams globally.

Through our platform, we continue to demonstrate to companies how easy it is to adopt SRE practices which in turn helps them improve their incident resolution metrics and, ultimately, the reliability of their systems.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Squadcast and ConvOps.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ConvOps's answer:

PagerDuty, OpsGenie and all other tools, tell you something broke. ConvOps tells you why and what to do about it. For small AWS teams (2โ€“20 engineers), the economics are completely different: $49/month flat vs. $400โ€“800/month for a comparable PagerDuty plan. Engineers get alerts on WhatsApp โ€” the app already on their phone โ€” instead of a separate on-call app. ConvOps also catches anomalies that never triggered a CloudWatch alarm through continuous baseline monitoring with z-score detection, so you find problems before customers do.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

ConvOps's answer:

  • Kolsetu GmbH - German AI bootstrapped company, that got a huge in their own niche in very less time.

What makes your product unique?

ConvOps's answer:

ConvOps is the only AWS incident tool that lets you respond to alerts directly from WhatsApp โ€” acknowledge, resolve, silence, or investigate without opening a dashboard. Before any alert reaches you, it runs 9 automated verification checks (recovery, AWS Health, recent deploys, quota limits, security events, flap detection) to eliminate noise. It reads CloudWatch metrics, CloudTrail events, and resource state in parallel to deliver a plain-English root cause with numbered fix options โ€” usually within 60 seconds of an alarm firing. No agents to install, no code changes required, flat $49/month pricing with no per-seat or per-alert fees.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ConvOps's answer:

Engineering teams (2โ€“50 developers) running production workloads on AWS who don't have a dedicated SRE or DevOps engineer. Typically: early-stage startups, bootstrapped SaaS companies, and a product teams inside larger organisations. These are teams that are paying for PagerDuty and finding it overkill, or teams that rely only on CloudWatch emails and miss incidents because nobody sees them when required the most.

What's the story behind your product?

ConvOps's answer:

ConvOps was built by Nitesh Bhavsar after watching small engineering teams repeatedly get woken up by CloudWatch alerts with no context - just an alarm name and a metric value. The standard response was 20โ€“40 minutes of manual log-digging before anyone understood what was wrong. The insight was that every piece of information needed to diagnose an AWS incident already exists in CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and the resource state - it just needed to be pulled together automatically and delivered somewhere engineers actually look. WhatsApp and Slack was the obvious delivery channel for small teams, where PagerDuty's mobile app adoption is low.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ConvOps's answer:

  • AWS Lambda (Python) โ€” all backend processing, serverless
  • Amazon DynamoDB โ€” incident state, workspace config, anomaly summaries
  • Amazon CloudWatch โ€” metrics source and alarm ingestion
  • Amazon EventBridge โ€” scheduling and pipeline orchestration
  • Amazon SNS / SQS โ€” alert routing and queuing
  • Meta WhatsApp Business API โ€” alert delivery and two-way conversation
  • Claude (Anthropic) โ€” AI root cause analysis and summarisation
  • Next.js (TypeScript) โ€” frontend, statically exported to S3 + CloudFront

  • What is the advantage of VBA vs. CiCode in PlantSCADA?
In Aveva PlantSCADA what is the advantage of using VBA versus CiCode? Is it merely syntax? I was hoping that if I used VBA I would have easier access to a richer API. One of the main things I want to be able to do is to format and send some HTTP POSTs to squadcast.com for push notifications. Right now I'm doing this with an external .NET assembly I created.
