SplittyX splits shared expenses with friends, flatmates, couples and travel companions — built around the awkward cases, not the easy ones: the deposit two people paid together, the friend who refuses toinstall anything, the trip where half the expenses were in another currency.

What it does - Several payers on one expense, each with their own amount - Equal, exact-amount and percentage splits, plus a default split per group - 51 currencies, converted at the rate for the DATE of the expense rather than today's, so nobody quietly carries the group's currency risk. Each person reads the same debt in their own currency - Guests: add someone by name and they get a fair share without installing the app or having an email address - Debt simplification and settle-up - Personal spaces for expenses that are only yours: no members, no splitting, just your totals and categories - Custom categories you create yourself, up to ten per group - Group budgets, charts, comments with @mentions, activity history, a 30-day bin, payment reminders - Offline entry — expenses added without a connection are queued and sent when you are back online - Six languages (English, Greek, Italian, Spanish, French, German), picked per person

Pricing The free plan is not a trial: unlimited expenses with no daily cap, every split type, all 51 currencies, debt simplification, custom categories, offline use, CSV export and one personal space, forever. It carries a banner ad plus a full-screen ad from your third expense of the day, and you can own up to 5 active groups — membership of other people's groups is unlimited.

Supporter (€0.99/month) drops the full-screen ads and adds PDF reports, receipt photos, unlimited groups, three personal spaces and 10 AI receipt scans a month. VIP (€2.49/month) is fully ad-free and adds itemised receipt splitting, recurring and future-dated expenses, unlimited scans and unlimited personal spaces.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing SplitApp and SplittyX.

What makes your product unique?

SplittyX's answer:

Friend groups on trips, flatmates, and couples — people splitting real, everyday amounts rather than running a business. The design assumes the group is mixed: some members are meticulous, some will never open the app, and at least one person paid for something in a currency the others don't think in.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

SplittyX's answer:

Three reasons, and they are narrow on purpose.

You can add as many expenses as you want on the free plan. On a five-day trip that is the difference between recording things as they happen and writing them on a napkin.

Currency is handled per expense date and per person's own currency, on every plan rather than a paid tier.

And guests: the one friend who won't install anything still gets a fair share calculated, by name, with no account and no email address.

What we don't claim: the free plan shows a banner ad plus a full-screen one from your third expense of the day, and there is no import from other splitters. If neither of those is acceptable, another app is the better choice — that is a real trade-off, not a footnote.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

SplittyX's answer:

Friend groups on trips, flatmates, and couples — people splitting real, everyday amounts rather than running a business. The design assumes the group is mixed: some members are meticulous, some will never open the app, and at least one person paid for something in a currency the others don't think in.

It is European-first in practice. The interface, emails and notifications are in English, Greek, Italian, Spanish, French and German, and each person in a group picks their own, so a mixed-nationality group doesn't have to settle on one language.

What's the story behind your product?

SplittyX's answer:

I was a Splitwise user. On a trip with friends I hit the point where I couldn't keep adding expenses as the day went on, and paying to remove that limit felt steep for what I was getting back. So I built the thing I wanted for me and my friends, starting with the parts that had annoyed me: no cap on how much you record, currency converted at the rate for the day of the expense, and the friends who refuse to install an app still included in the maths.

It turned out better than a personal tool has any right to be, so I put it on both stores. It is a one-person project, still, and that is why the free plan is generous and the paid tiers are €0.99 and €2.49 rather than anything grander.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SplittyX's answer:

React Native with Expo (expo-router, Zustand, TanStack Query) for the Android and iOS apps, and a Node/Express API on MySQL behind it. Subscriptions run through RevenueCat against the App Store and Google Play, push goes out via Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging, email through Amazon SES, and errors are tracked in Sentry. Receipt scanning uses Google's Gemini vision models.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

SplittyX's answer:

None — and it would be strange if there were. SplittyX is a consumer app: the "customer" is a group of friends on a trip, a flat sharing bills, or a couple keeping track between them. There are no corporate accounts and no logos to show, and we don't publish who uses it.
