SpawnWP is a free and open-source, self-hosted WordPress development lab for creating isolated, disposable WordPress environments on your own Debian or Ubuntu server.

It is designed for development, testing, debugging, plugin/theme evaluation, demos and experimentation — not as a traditional hosting control panel.

Each WordPress instance runs in its own isolated Docker stack and can be created, reset, snapshotted or destroyed whenever needed. SpawnWP also includes a web-based cockpit for managing environments without having to work exclusively from the command line.

Unlike hosted services such as InstaWP or TasteWP, SpawnWP runs entirely on infrastructure you control. There are no per-site fees, artificial site limits or recurring SaaS subscriptions imposed by SpawnWP itself — your limits are essentially the resources available on your server.

SpawnWP started as a personal tool for quickly spinning up WordPress test environments and was later released publicly as an MIT-licensed open-source project.
