  Ccextractor -- a fairly simple utility to extract closed captions from various MPEG format files into SRT subtitles. MakeMKV can be configured to use it when ripping DVDs (if they have closed captions). Source: over 3 years ago

• Closed captioning is stripped from the file when it is prepared for broadcast television.
