Possible disadvantages

  • Internet dependency
As a cloud-based service, it requires a stable internet connection to function, which can be a limitation in areas with poor connectivity or during outages.
  • Limited information available
There is relatively little publicly available detail about the platform's specific features, pricing, and reliability, making it harder to evaluate thoroughly.
  • Data privacy concerns
Storing code and projects on a third-party cloud raises potential security and privacy considerations, especially for sensitive or proprietary projects.
  • Potential performance limitations
Cloud-based environments may experience latency or performance constraints compared to a powerful local development setup, depending on the service tier.
  • Vendor lock-in
Relying on a specific cloud platform may make it difficult to migrate projects elsewhere, creating dependency on the provider's continued operation and pricing.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Snowball Dividends and CodeinCloud.

What makes your product unique?

Snowball Dividends's answer

Snowball Dividends is the only free dividend site that combines: (1) a live calendar of expected ex-dividend dates for 64 income funds, projected from each fund's real payment rhythm; (2) a personal paycheck calendar where holdings are stored only in the visitor's browser — no account, and the site never sees them; (3) a Fund Launch Tracker that reads SEC registration filings daily and lists income ETFs before they start trading; and (4) deliberately honest math — split-adjustment disclosures on charts, total-return backtests instead of headline yields, and payout-decline data most yield sites hide. No signup, no cookies for tracking, no paywall on any tool.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Snowball Dividends's answer

Most competitors put their best features behind accounts, subscriptions, or broker-sync requirements. Snowball Dividends takes the opposite approach: every tool is free and works instantly with no signup, and portfolio data never leaves the visitor's browser. It's also more honest than typical yield sites — it charts payout declines, marks split-adjusted history, and backtests total return rather than advertising headline yields — because income investors deserve the real record, not marketing numbers.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Snowball Dividends's answer

US income investors across the spectrum: beginners learning how dividends and DRIP compounding work; retirees and near-retirees planning around payment dates with the calendar and paycheck tools; and holders of high-yield option-income ETFs (YieldMax, NEOS, Roundhill, GraniteShares and similar) who want real payment histories, projected ex-dates, and early word on new fund launches.

What's the story behind your product?

Snowball Dividends's answer

It started in June 2026 as a single free dividend snowball calculator — a way to visualize how reinvested dividends compound year by year. Every tool since has come from watching what income investors actually search for and can't find done honestly: a live calendar of expected payment dates, complete payment histories for high-yield funds, a personal payday planner that respects privacy, and eventually a launch radar that reads SEC filings so subscribers hear about new income ETFs the morning they list. The through-line is honest math over hype — showing what funds actually paid, not what their marketing implies.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Snowball Dividends's answer

Deliberately simple: hand-written HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript with no frameworks and no build step, served as static pages from a global CDN, with lightweight serverless functions supplying live market data. That keeps every page fast, private (no tracking cookies), and easy to maintain — most tools run entirely in the visitor's browser.
