I used to use a service called "snapnames.com" and would google common .com's such as lemons.com, aspirin.com, etc... And when I would find one that was simply parked and/or not being used, I would check the expiration date at whois. If the domain was set to expire within the next 6 months, I would pre-register it (you don't have to pay until you actually acquire the domain). The fact that the domain is not...
